— fred didn’t think he was necessarily born to thrive in these sorts of climates. sometimes the snow would be a peaceful and admittedly beautiful sight. other times the wind and snow made it so harsh that fred didn’t even want to step outside. though, while he wasn’t necessarily born for the weather, he still accepted this place. called it home. he figured lots of others had followed the same pattern. eyes wandered towards the lake, watching as a stranger knelt down and began to hit the lake. hoping for the ice to crack. “stranger at the lake,” he announced into his walkie talkie before beginning his journey down to meet the guy.
“hey,” he called as he neared. once he was close enough, he stood a few feet away and crossed his arms in front of his chest. “going for a midday swim?” the words were stupid, but fred couldn’t help the grin that followed. “whatever you’re looking for, i bet we have it at the lodge,” he offered, raising his brows expectantly. he didn’t know the guy, didn’t even know his name - but as amusing as it would be to keep watching the man hit the lake with a large stick, he might as well offer the man some of flintlock’s resources.
“i’m freddie, by the way.”
