It'd been a month since the new arrivals from the Prairie and slowly faces had become familiar. Almost familiar enough to trust.
Almost.
Edmund frowned at the eerie silence which filled the winter air. The world around him seemed vacant, far more vacant than what he'd been used to over the weeks. And, as he stepped into the cafeteria, his shoulders slumped at what he found.
Absolutely nothing.
The room which'd once been filled of survivors, donated warm clothing and blankets, food and hygiene products, all the benevolence that Flintlock had offered them, gone. Taken for granted before they left without a goodbye. Ed's brows furrowed slightly, stepping further into the emptied out room before striding across to the pantry. He shook his head slowly at the opened lock on the ground. The lock had been picked.
Swinging the doors open, Eddie sucked in sharply at the barren room. Their supplies, all the most valuable of consumables stolen by the people who Eddie had welcomed in with open arms. His heart slammed against his chest, a sickening sensation rising his throat as rage bubbled away within him.
He suddenly stepped back, flinging the doors back shut roughly as a bang of the doors slamming shut echoed across the hall. And then, a closed fist punched against the door, nostrils flaring as Edmund released a stressed sigh. How the hell could people use and betray people in this way? It was disgusting - Eddie squeezed his eyes shut, taking a slow step back before he pinched the bridge of his nose.
Eddie needed to track them down. They needed to regret what they'd done.
❝ Emergency meeting in the cafeteria immediately. ❞ He demanded gruffly into his walkie talkie, teeth gritted together tightly as he then began to pace the room. In the silence of the room whilst he waited, he shook his head slowly in thought. He could only be humiliated by his own idiocy. He'd been beaten at his own game. A convincing confidence trick before taking everything valuable to them.
Ed should've known better, but his morals were just so conflicting.
