— “are you prepared to check the traps every day?”
his cousin questioned him as he caught up with freddie. he stopped whistling his absent tune and glanced over at eddie. eyes glanced back at the footprints in the snow that followed his own. and then his gaze lingered on ed once again before he ultimately turned to look ahead once more, shaking his head as he did so. “maybe. are you going to be following me then, too?” stated casually, but met with easy eyes and a subtle smirk. he was well aware that he and edmund would never get along; however, that didn’t mean that ed had to doubt him and whatever abilities he had.

and there it seemed like eddie had a bit of a soft spot for the wolves. that, or he had more mercy on these furry pests more than he did with most people. fred wouldn’t put that past him. it had become instinct for the younger to merely shoot someone at any growing inconvenience. he was used to killing people, watching them die; he couldn’t say the same about wolves. there was something different about it… something about that said more about freddie than anything else. he didn’t stop to consider the meaning.
“look at you, being an advocate for the wolves,” he hummed. “real cute, ed. never thought i’d see the day you became so soft.” settling down with a wife, having kids... this wasn’t the edmund stirling-moray freddie once knew. though it brought him a certain satisfaction in feeling like he was doing far better in life than his cousin.
