los santos was jerome’s first experience with other people besides family and his close, dear friend eben. he had never been in such close quarters with others, let alone in the company of those who looked like they could knock him out in one fell swoop. eben had become practically his bodyguard of sorts. it gave him the confidence to get outside of his room and see los santos for all it had to offer. he looked composed. however, when eben wasn’t around to protect him from any potential threats, jerome looked like nothing more than a lost, shivering puppy.

that was especially true the moment he saw a newcomer wandering into the city. the person walked with a rabbit mask covering their appearance, body covered and silhouetted almost hauntingly by the rise of the sun. the baseball bat, wrapped in barbed wire, gleamed in such a dangerously awful way. everything in jerome shouted to let someone else go and greet her. he wasn’t quite up to par with these other members who could so fearlessly walk towards danger unfazed.

but he knew he couldn’t hide behind eben for forever. he needed to get his own spine and deal with these sorts of matters himself. he needed to be brave. and with that, he slowly walked over to meet this newcomer.

“hello,” he greeted, placing his hands on his hips once he slowed to a stop a ways from her. a considerable distance. the greeting was meant to be kind as a closed-lip smile came to his lips, searching the person’s features - or lack thereof - before continuing. “welcome to los santos. what brings you here?”

the smile didn’t quite match the subtle fear in his glazed eyes. however, for j, this was quite the accomplishment.
