LIES A THOUSAND HORRIFYING MEMORIES | | |
Laws, governmental regulations, Salem had been just a child when those had applied to him. He probably would've had a good life if the power hadn't gone out; he would've graduated a bunch of fancy schools his parents paid for him to attend - since his grades were mediocre at best - and would've became a regional manager of some stupid web company, vying with his coworkers for a promotion or a raise.
Salem much preferred it this way. This life humbled people, made them less annoying; book smarts didn't matter as much anymore, and if you had em then you're probably on someone's hit-list for one reason or another. And he could walk around like a dirty hippy without anybody batting an eye, since most folks knew better than to step to him.
"Can't say I've seen anyone of that description either." Salem said, hooking his fingers around his belt and rocking back and forth on his heels. Out of the corner of his eye he saw Catalyst had appeared, coalescing out of the shadows or whatever the fuck their leader did in order to be everywhere at once.
His brow twitched at the woman's introduction. Another captain? She didn't seem like the seafaring type, but maybe she meant it in like, military terms. She was plenty old enough to have been in the military, back when the world cared about such things as nations. "Olga it is." He hummed. Only Cat was worthy of being a captain in his eyes now, and it was mainly because Cat didn't seem to care for the nickname.
Oh jesus, she was just gonna drop this dude off here? He looked like he was about to cry, and he'd been cowering behind her the entire time. "Yeah, he's gonna get torn apart. This is a pretty sick prank if you hate him." Salem commented offhandedly, taking a few strides forward to flank them and get a better look at Marco.
"We'll take him, can't promise he'll be here if you come back for him." Salem said, turning his quizzical gaze back onto Olga. If she was fine with leaving her cowering friend in the hands of a bunch of violent strangers, then he wouldn't stop her.
