He's receiving the same punishment for killing all of those innocents with the future horrors he'll partake in. It's a long way off, but I know around that time is when he tries to be Good ™. Any children he has will be affected if they do some horrible things too.
Of course, when he gains this, it's going to be a real shocker for him (and everyone else)
