one : the death of her mother ; the beginning of malachi's dive into the obsession of death . led to believe that her mother had committed suicide ; masked over ruthless murder . and at that point , stripped of innocence , consider it the " death " of her youthful purity .
two : her own " death " at the hands of agnes ( parallel between her mother ) . very well toeing the line of mortality , it was agnes who had left her to die . malachi was prepared to  was certain she would , further fueling her spiral downward after it didn't happen .
three : the death of security , dreams , and sense of self following the loss of blake . blake had been her everything  her reason to live . the only reason to live . when she left , she took the most important parts of malachi with her , her love and devotion , security and safety , identity , and will to survive . it killed her completely , therefore , the " death " of her existential importance .
four : the " death " of malachi and all her interpersonal relationships , and her ability to form emotional attachments following . she meets a girl named damien who she eventually falls in love with , yet destroys the relationship out of fear . damien calls her selfish ; calls her a lot of things , actually . she calls her bitter , selfish , and hateful , and it completely shatters her world view because damien gives justification to all the events she's suffered through .
five : " ego-death " ; the complete and utter loss of herself within her own mind ; turned into reformation . while those deaths were more on a physical scale and impacted her mentally , this one occurs mentally and impacts her physically .
