okay so this might be hard to explain but there was a park near my old house where my high school was
it was along the beach and the coastal entire region of victoria, australia is actually built on basalt/volcanic rock which brings unique plants and wildlife to this sort of enviroment but like
basically it's a marsh area where most of the ground is unstable and built on the basalt rocks. closer to the water is a lot of rock pools and both interesting and dangerous wildlife (i've seen a blue ringed octopus near the place i'm giving this idea from, it was awesome and it wasn't pissed off yet) and there's also a lot of interesting plants like mangroves, glasswort (it's like a grass that looks bubbly and round, kind like aloe vera but not) and uh... something called 'bidgie-widgie'... gg australia
i was thinking the camp could be in like a sort of hollow in the rocks where the water doesn't come through when the tide is in, surrounded by marsh saltbush around the top of the rocks to give shade and cover against predators.
this is kinda an out there idea but b/c of the rocks and grasslands nearby, there would be a lot of frequent mice and rats, as well as fish and other things showing up on the shore
aside from birds the other kind of threat would be snakes which could be an interesting plot
this is super sudden and super australian so it's just an idea haha
i did a lot of studying with school and with mum there though so i can offer heaps of ideas and stuff
