dork,†he laughed as he pointed out the obvious fact. maybe they both were dorks. but mickey had to admit that dorky looked a lot better on ellie than it’d ever look on him. “if you do fall, try to fall with style,†he supplied with a brief chuckle, gently leading her along the railing. something in this moment was just pure bliss. he’d spent so long just watching people go out on dates, feeling slightly envious. and now that he was with ellie, he wanted to just- shout his happiness to the world. instead, though, he’d just stay happily by ellie’s side (mainly because he actually really didn’t want ellie to fall and possibly get hurt).
witty and clever. mick found that quality so endearing. and so, as ellie whispered that she wasn’t wrong - a clever little remark to an already cheesy response - mick felt like his heart was placed in the palm of her hand, then, just completely hers to take. “i guess you weren’t.†he could barely fight back a grin, instead just a smile as he gazed at ellie. god, how had he gotten so lucky? but part of him also felt a slight bit of nerves. what if he got this wrong? what if he messed everything up during this first date? so far, he felt like everything had gone by just fine- but mick definitely wasn’t an expert in dating women. he wasn’t a casanova like many of his friends; he was just mickey. and ellie was.. everythingj. what man in the world wouldn’t want everything? what man in the world wouldn’t be scared to lose everything, as well?
as he lead them along, his heart felt like it was going to burst. ellie seemed so happy in that moment and, god, what he would do to keep that beautiful smile on her lips. “this is the only time you’ve ever skated,†he pointed out in return, looking over towards her with a smile making its way to his lips. for a while he simply pulled ellie along, helping her to skate along the ice rink. it felt like time really flew the more he spent time with her. and, as their time for skating was up and they went outside of the rink, he couldn’t help but ask the question, “hey. want to- go get shakes somewhere, or something?†because he didn’t want this date to end; he needed more of ellie. how could he ever want to be without her company?
