(Brief overview from Discord)

He was born five years before TNW all began (I think?). His family were self-made millionaires basically after purchasing and owning a whisky distillery. On the side, his mother was also a landlady to two other properties that she would rent out for people (under a pseudonym), plus she'd dabble a little bit into stocks and investments with the help of Ed's uncle. But, Ed's father was not the nicest man out there. He was the Godfather in their family's mob syndicate, and so Ed grew up in a family of crime. They were known for their work as loan sharks, fraud and excessive gambling, plus Ed's father would smuggle weaponry illegally as a side-business and ship them off around the world.

When Ed's mom began to talk to a non-member about family matters, her own husband shot her between the eyes as it threatened the integrity of the company. And so, by the time the electricity went out entirely, it was more or less a household of men, excluding extended family such as aunts, grandmothers, cousins and the new woman their father was with. At this point, Henry and Ida were born. Teddy left with his wife once they married to start a new life, leaving Eddie, Frank and Oscar to travel with their father, step-mother and two step-siblings after supplies in the area ran low.

Tension between Oscar & Frank and their father began to get unbearable, especially since their syndicate values were beginning to waver and so eventually they left before their father would lose his temper with them and kill them. And so, Ed was the last of the Stirling-Moray brothers (though he eventually dropped the 'Moray' in his name as that was his mother's surname). One day, his father and step-mother left to scavenge for supplies but never returned, and so Ed continued the journey they were taking with the two kids so that they could lead a safer life.
