The man was looking to join - well, there weren’t many other reasons why one would climb these treacherous mountains. It was beneficial for a person in hiding to live somewhere with little footfall, few opportunities to be noticed by the wrong people. No wonder Alfred favored the secrecy of this lodge. But, was that the case for everyone here? Of course not, so it was interesting to wonder what this man’s story was. What his intentions were. Eddie was one to question everything, a seed of doubt planted in his mind when assuming the intentions of people. It came through a lot of trial and error - he once was too trusting, he once became too untrusting. Nowadays, he was closer to the latter yet keen on recruiting more people. After all, as much as he hated to admit it, allowing people in was a risk but the benefit tended to outweigh any detriment.

They needed people. They always needed eager people to provide for the group in return for safety, community and a share of their earnings. Without people, they wouldn’t survive. In this way, it seemed that Flintlock needed this man as much as he needed Flintlock; a mutually beneficial relationship in which Eddie was the gateway for. The man introduced himself, Eddie nodding to himself impassively before he provided in return, ❝ Edmund Stirling. ❞ He paused. ❝ Eddie is fine. ❞ The decision to drop ❛ Moray ❜ was an unconscious one, one which even he had not yet come to acknowledge. Ed shifted from foot to foot, eyes somewhat wary as he then said, ❝ You’re more than welcome to join, provided you’re able to help out around here. ❞

He explained before nodding his head towards the lodge. ❝ There’s a fire going indoors; that’ll warm you up. ❞ Eddie mumbled softly before he began to lead Richard back towards the lodge. He wasn't the greatest of welcome committees, distant and emotionally cold as he wandered back to the lodge with his eyes low and his features contorted into a permanent frown.
