plot idea #001 - dystopian pokemon rp because i'm f iv e that needs to get stored bc it'd make a darn good fan game if i never use it for a rp
[spoiler=world as we know it]it's been almost three decades since pokemon trainers everywhere roamed around the world, helping the professors of each region gather information about the pokemon living there and creating lasting bonds with their pokemon as they tried to reach whatever goals they've put in place. it's been decades since red himself became the champion of the kanto region, looking down upon it from mount silver with his hat creating a shadow over his eyes, and it's been decades since alola was shook to it's very core as the ultra beasts unleashed its power onto the region. who knew that within just a couple of short decades, that everything in the pokemon world would completely change.
a small group that referred to themselves as the genesis project started up in the midst of the kalos region. nobody took them seriously, or really perceived them as a threat. to those who would look into the organization, all they would find is a group lead by a women who simply went by enyo, who put most of their time and energy into the research of pokemon conservation and the mega-stones that were scattered throughout the region. they were the first to reveal what exactly the mega evolutions were doing to the pokemon who underwent them, such as the bloodlust that mega metagross and mega lucario try to indulge in and the worries that the mother kangaskhan has towards it's child. they showed the pokemon professors the error of their ways when it came to mega evolution, and as a result were granted permission from every region to go around and gather each megastone, locking it up within their own laboratory for safekeeping.
enyo eventually fell ill from chronic illness, to the likes of which no one had seen before. on her death bed, she wished for her son to take over as the head, knowing that he would have the same compassion for pokemon and thirst for knowledge so they could improve life as all knew it as she did. her second in command, crynn, who stayed by her side through it all, promised to withhold that request as she took in her dying breath, a promise he would never be able to keep. the son mysteriously went missing after that, as well as the two other admins for the genesis project who were in the room as she spoke. crynn stepped up as the head of the organization, tears in his eyes as he regretfully spoke to his members and told them the woes of the fallen and the lost.
things began to change after that. crynn funded more research into helping the professors with the pokedex, and even funded his own academy to help give pokemon to trainers to help them jumpstart their adventures and encouraged most trainers to take the ultimate challenge by going to each region and conquering their pokemon gyms before attempting to face the champion, and when they hit the age of 18 they could without a doubt get enlisted into the genesis project to help with their research and continue to be around pokemon as some of their lower-staff members. as the years passed on, however, the less he funded in both of those. the organization became more reclusive, only letting in the trainers in which it had funded throughout their journeys through the region. eventually, many stopped hearing of it altogether and figured they were busy on other things and simply offered friendly smiles when they'd see members in their uniforms walking down paths with pokemon at their sides. the genesis project was an organization in which people trusted, an organization that often got donations from many, such as gym leaders to simple pokeball factory employees.
little did the world know that it had become an extremely powerful tyranny, what was to be a revolution that was already past the makings. a force to be reckoned with. one by one, crynn gave each admin of the team a megastone for whatever pokemon they felt would be the strongest in battle. they began to preach to the regions the idea of a world where there would be no danger or threats of groups trying to disrupt their way of life for their own good. they painted pictures of a peaceful place where all could live with their pokemon in harmony, a place where no one would dare try to crush the very fabric of their own existences. they swore of prosperity, wealth, and dreams to the regions who decided to be run by the genesis project, promising that no bad would come of it. all of the regions agreed, though some trainers were appalled by this. they were appalled by the ideas of all being controlled under one command, all of them insisting that this was not the way to go to be protected against teams such as team rocket, team galactic, team plasma, and team skull. those who argued eventually just disappeared, and seized to exist.
they took the regions, and they shaped it into their own version of what they felt the world should be. within ten years they revamped everything; they first made cities and towns stand on stilts over the forests, their roads and buildings leaving the trees below in an eternal shadow. train tracks and highways stand above over old travel routes, and the most memorable sites now have been tarnished by pollution or ripped up for mining, such as lake garyados and mount moon. pokemon trainers are almost extinct now, as the pokedex has no more pokemon data to collect and most parents just don't see the benefits of having their kids go out to a world that they've been told is dangerous. it's more profitable to send your child to an academy to get a proper education and to buy a pokemon bred to be in use of city maintenance and jobs rather than give them companions to travel to wretched lands with. wild pokemon have hidden away from humanity, and since the pokedex is complete, there isn't much use for most of them anyway.
most pokemon you see nowadays are electric, water, steel, normal, psychic, or poison type. any other pokemon type requires a special pass, respectively called the pokepass, to show that you are allowed to have that specific pokemon type. the reason for the implication of it was for the people, as crynn swore that the pokemon of various types such as fire, ghost, and rock type had the capabilities of being used for evil if given to the wrong hands with their type of power and that they should only be given to trainers who go under a special training in order to withhold the pokemon and use them for good only, as well as putting all trainers of that type into an index to make sure that it is know.
the genesis organization has been known for taking various citizens who don't agree with their methods and just letting them "disappear", as if they never existed. officers often walk down the street and along the boarders of cities with pokemon such as garchomp, lucario, and metagross, all holding megastones to mega evolve if the time were right and they needed to use the extra force. many of the citizens are okay with it all too, all having forgotten what the old days had been like or feeling completely safe in their new environment. few still do hate it though, looking deeply into the shadows below the stilts as they whisper to their children and tell them of a time when they had their own pokemon journey and filling their heads with memories that they'd crave to have themselves.[/spoiler]
