We've been seeing a lot of names that aren't strictly traditional, and while we will handle these as they come up in the future, it's difficult to sort through every TWC sub for names. As such, we wanted to get this thread up so you guys could possibly decide if your name is realistic without staff intervention.
Animals in the Warrior Cats series are named based on their surroundings or names that have been passed down through stories in history. Examples of the first would be names such as Stormkit, or Snailpaw. As they live in a somewhat forested area, please use your better judgment when deciding what names would be reasonable. (For example, cats would not know about the ocean, desert, or rainforest.) Examples of the second would be Lionheart or Leopardkit. Kits are named after what they resemble most, or the circumstances of their birth, as they are typically named before they can begin to show any sort of personality. This means that you couldn't have Thunderkit be named for his bold, loud personality, but you could have Shadowkit be named for her pitch black fur.
Suffixes are chosen based on a cat's most noticeable trait. For example, a cat that is skilled in combat may get the prefix -claw, and a cat with either gigantic ears or a great sense of hearing may get the suffix -ears. There's a little more flexibility with these, but please make sure that they're things that cats would realistically give, and that your character has something about them that makes the suffix suit them.
There are circumstances in which cats have their names changed, such as following an injury that is deemed significant enough to change who they are as a person. If this is the case with your character, that's fine! But please ensure that, again, they words that cats would understand and use.
