jason makana kahale, half-maori and half-german, was born to noah karukura and elise feldmen on the twenty seventh of january in wellington, new zealand in 1996. he hasn't spoken to his biological parents since he was three, when they passed him off to his father's mother, who made the decision to put him up for adoption when he was four. he was adopted by stella kahale, a hawaiian physical therapist, about three months after his fifth birthday.
he and stella moved back to her native oahu a few months after he was adopted and as y'all already know, the rest is history. like i said before, this isn't even a revamped jason  this is just him a few years in the future. now he's in his senior year of college at arizona state university, majoring in sports medicine. he doesn't play soccer anymore, only when he goes home to hawaii. he's just burnt out beyond belief, in all honesty, and it's a miracle that he's even on track to graduate.
he jokes that his best friend is his therapist, but at this point, it's the truth. he talks to her more than he even talks to his friends and sure, he's got people he hangs out with on campus, but they're not like his friends back home. he can't even explain why things don't feel the same, and that's what really bugs him.
his problem, according to his therapist, is alienation from a culture that isn't his by birth, and the apparent lack of an identity. jason thinks she's wrong  he blames the rest of the student body, as his problems didn't start until he got around them, and technically he's
