Truth be told, this wasn’t anything new for Jack; getting moved to a different squad. This was about his...Sixth squad now. And each was for the same reason. Jack screwed up on a task, or he did something reckless which resulted in endangering his comrades. He was used to being switched around now, but there was one thing which stayed with him constantly. That feeling of not fitting in.
And he had tried. Many times he tried to connect to his fellow comrades. But each time they’d ever brush him aside, or he came off as a bit too socially awakward for them. In a way, he was. The only life he’d ever known was farming. That’s what he did up until the age of 18 when he decided he wanted to do more good in this world and join the military.
He didn’t know how to act in the military. But he was trying. Trying to fit in and make a difference. But it always ended up the same. Him being transferred to someone else as if he was a burden to keep on a team.
Gabriel Reyes was his new commanding officer. The group seemed friendly enough at first. They were great from the ew interactions he had with them. But...That would end. It always did.
Jack had been spacing out until he spotted a figure looming over him. He raised his eyes to meet Gabriel’s. He was silent for a moment. “...If you want me there, sir.†Jack said.
