PARTY IN THE USA / private

jami never really payed attention in class, which is why he got so much detention. he was always fiddling with the bolts on his desk or whistling, but now he had a reason not to pay attention. a senior who had been moved into the junior level classes in all subject except english (which jami was still in freshmen glasses for). he wouldn't stop staring, and their newest teacher, Mr. morrison (a history and math teacher who had spent about ten years in the military with the gym teacher), didn't much like that. even at lunch, he would stare- in the locker room, too, but no one needed to know that one. but, today was the rare 'free day' where you got the entire day to hang out in any classroom you wanted to play games and just take a break- which was awesome. the only class jami couldn't go to was Mr. morrison's, as he was helping in gym with Mr. reyes. so, jami just sat in the lunchroom, staring at that new senior, mako, who sat alone- and seemed to be reading a book.
"you should go talk to him, you know." he jumped and looked up to see none other than new teacher, mr. morrison. "i didn't tell mine, and i regret it every day, but imagine living with the thought of never even talking to them." the teacher pat his shoulder and jogged off to catch up with the gym class, tossing a soccer ball. jami blinked and stood, leaning on his peg leg before going up behind mako and practicing as he walked. he finally stopped and cleared his throat. "uh.. hi!" he greeted. "i'm jami but uh.. i prefer junkrat!" he introduced.
