[div style="0px; width:400px; height:auto; text-align: justify; font-size: 9pt; line-height:13px;"]NAOMI IRON CLOUD  can't have this, can't have this / and it'd be nice of me to take it easy on ya, but nah
• fifteen to eighteen years old.
• naomi iron cloud was born to deenah johnson and abel iron cloud on december twenty fifth on the pine ridge indian reservation in south dakota. at the time, her mom worked in a diner and her dad drove trucks for budweiser beer. deenah is a black woman from barbados and moved to the united states to start a singing career. things didn't work out, and after some bad decisions and hitchhiking, she ended up working at the crazy horse diner just outside of the pine ridge reservation, which is where she met abel, a full-blooded oglala sioux.
• she has two younger brothers named lachlan and jackson  she's older than lachlan by five years and older than jackson by seven years.
• naomi wasn't planned, but when deenah told abel she was pregnant they both took it as a sign that they should be together. once naomi was born, they both went back to school and got college degrees; now deenah's a music teacher and abel's a police officer. it was because of abel's job that the family moved off of the reservation to chicago when naomi was five.
• both of her parents come from places where english isn't the main language, so naomi speaks bajan creole and lakota as well as english. it's all not uncommon to hear all three languages being spoken at once in her house, which can make eavesdropping pretty damn difficult.
• she tried to weasel her way out of taking a required language, but her school's administration wasn't having it so she decided to take chinese instead. she purposefully only puts enough effort in to pass the class with at least a c-.
• she claims to be a savage with no feelings but she's literally this text post.
• she has zero clue what she wants to do with her life, like just when she thinks she has it figured out something else that sounds cool comes along and at this point the only thing she knows she wants to do is go to the university of minnesota.
• it's an almost fourteen-hour drive back to the pine ridge reservation from chicago, but her family still manages to do it at least twice a month. going to barbados is a lot more difficult  it takes at least two plane trips and one boat ride  so they only visit her mom's family once a year.
• "talk shit, get hit," says naomi, who has literally never gotten into a fight and would probably cry if she heard you talking shit about her.
• she has adhd and was diagnosed with it when she was ten years old, but because neither of her parents trusted the psychiatrist the school hired to give the diagnosis, she goes without medication. she can usually keep her fidgeting under control (she sits on her hands, taps her feet, just small gestures like that) but her work is still messy most of the time unless she really focuses on making it neater.
• she has terrible handwriting, so asking her to write anything by hand is a big no-no unless you want to sit there for hours trying to decipher the first sentence.
• she doesn't talk shit because if she has a problem with you she'll say it right to your face, she doesn't think the extra drama is necessary. besides, she tries to be nice to everyone so if someone does do something that upsets her or pisses her off she would just tell them that.
• naomi's a photographer, and her favorite thing to shoot is the sky on the reservation, which leads to pictures like these. her second favorite thing to shoot is her friend jerry because how could he not be, he's such a cutie!
• in addition to adhd, she has social anxiety, which tends at odds with the fact that she tends to be popular and well-liked. she can handle parties and going out to dinner with friends, but only if she has some time to herself before, during, and after.
• she has a really pretty voice, and singing is one the things she uses to keep herself under control. what songs she sings depends on what's going on with her  if her anxiety is getting bad she'll sing lakota lullabies and if it's her adhd that's causing her problems then she'll sing barbadian club songs her mom taught her.
• she has two dogs named ska and misun. they're samoyed littermates that she convinced her mom to get her for her tenth birthday.
• her typical outfit is an oversized hoodie, skinny jeans with rips at the knees, and hiking boots with whatever cool art-themed socks she got at the flea market that weekend.
• the only people allowed to touch her hair are her family. it's not even just that she doesn't like for people to touch her hair  hair means much more to the lakota people than it does in western/white culture. it's seen as their connection to the world around them, and naomi sees anyone besides family touching her hair as blocking that connection, so if you aren't immediate family, don't touch her hair no matter how beautiful it looks.
