[justify]Santana didn't have the greatest childhood. Her parents got married when they were young. She doesn't know much about this, just that her mother was pregnant at the time and that her parents had run off together. She was born to a set of twins. They were identical, but the way you could tell them apart was easy. Naya had a mole on her left hand whereas Santana didn't. Santana and her sister had been born witches with magical powers, though they didn't know about these powers until later on in their lives.

When they were very young, Santana's father ran out on them. After this, her mother turned cold and distant. Her mother ended up showing signs of mental problems and eventually Santana and her sister were taken away from their mother. For years she and her sister were in and out of foster homes, never getting adopted. In a lot of the homes, they were never together either. They also spent plenty of time at group homes / orphanages growing up. Santana would make tally marks in a journal that she kept. The tally marks were color coded. In the journal she also wrote about every home she'd ever been in and what it was like there.

While in the foster care system, she and her sister were aloud to visit their mother on certain days of the week, as that was the deal their mother had made. When she was a teenager, her mother mysteriously died at the mental institution she had been staying at. She had never been told exactly what had happened to her mother and Santana had always wondered about that.

Eventually she got tired of being a foster child, so she and her sister made a plan to run off together. When they were old enough that was exactly what they did. Since then, Santana has been on her own. She and her twin sister aren't as close as they used to be, but they still keep in close contact with each other.[/justify]

Sonya Guetta - Santana's biological mother. She is currently deceased.
Mani Lopez - Santana's estranged father. As far as she knows he's still alive and he's since remarried, but she doesn't know much else about the man.
Naya Lopez - Santana's identical twin. They don't always see eye to eye and sometimes get into fights.
Dannie Lopez - Santana's younger half brother. She's never met him, but she once got a letter from her father where he talked about the boy.
Louie Rowan Lopez - Santana's adoptive son in some roleplays.
