the batter was settled a few feet away with his head ducked, leaving zacharie to wonder what he looked like as he asked, "you wanna share my blanket?" the man's head shifted to the left, raising his head slightly to reveal his eyes.
zacharie shrugged, using one hand to pull the blanket further onto himself; mostly just to avoid meeting the other's eyes, which reflected no answer to his question. "well, if you want to share, feel free. i don't mind." he waved a hand dismissively, offering a wide-toothed. finally hunkering down with a not-so subtle grunt, zacharie stretched out his large arms, flexing his hands before resting his head on his pillow.
maybe, it might bother him how easily he fell asleep next to the batter in the future.
as minutes ticked by, leaning into hours, the batter watched the rise and fall of the blanket in silence. one moment he was still and in the next, the man was shifting from his spot. the only noise was the faint stirring of zacharie, a slight hiccup in his breath and the shuffling of a blanket before all was still again.
it was a funny sight. at least, zacharie would say so, if he'd been looking at himself and the batter. the latter was spooning the former, his long and tall frame curling around the merchant's.
