John curled his fingers into his cape, the rough fur not very comforting but it was better then standing around and doing nothing. He felt like he was in a stand-off and at any second one of them was going to pull out a - figurative - gun and it was going to all go to shit. He still didn't want to be the one to back down though, that was weakness and he didn't need to give Metta any more ammo to say he was a worm.

"Don't call me darling." John said, deciding to shut that shit down before anything else. He wasn't sure what else to respond with, which was strange since he was normally sharp-tongued; maybe the civility of their conversation was getting to him.
