Johnny has grown up in a house made forty years before he was born. A two story house with a large backyard and three bedrooms. Whenever he thought back he had to admire that there had been such a haven in the middle of chaos. Of course that hadn't been a haven really, places like that never were. So, when he thought of the house he also thought of his mother crying after another miscarriage, his six other siblings huddled in the corner as he tried to convince his drunken dad everything was okay. He'd only been the oldest by two years and yet he'd held the burden. Not that he wanted his siblings to have to deal with his family's issues, it just was a hard job. Protecting himself from not only both his parents, but the small town too. Despite its safe, healthy outlook it wasnt like that at all. Women were beaten by men, which was met with children being beaten by mothers. Girls had been looked at as, well, as nothing more then something to get pregnant. Men were seen as superior unless they were like women, in which they were nothing but things to pass the time with. It had been a bad place for a child to grow up in especially since Johnny was a very feminine, small child. Always doing the household chores, cooking the food, making sure his siblings were okay. Even better everyone said he was "special", but there wasnt anything special about what they were talking about.
He was gone though, and that was that. There was no more fear of getting hurt or whatever else happened. Here it wasnt safe either. It wasn't his family though which made it seem like paradise. Luckily he had grown into a big guy too. Well, he didn't like how he looked or how he was strong, it made him feel like he was gonna hurt things. So it was good for surviving, just not when it came to him wanting be gentle or seem friendly. He'd never been good at expressing himself either. Big and dumb, with something wrong in his brain. What was the word they used? Ah, he didn't know. Something with a "r" maybe. Stupid, idiot, there wasn't a specific word so why try to think up another one?
A noisy sneeze came from him. Oh jeez, he didn't need to be getting sick, that would be the death of him. Another sneeze popped out that was so hard it made him see little, colorful dots. Rubbing his nose across his sleeve Johnny glanced to his side. There was someone right outside a house doing.. Something. Sitting in the rain? What a dumb thing to do. Maybe they didn't know that though. There was a chance the person was a child, in which case he definitely ought to warn them about getting a cold. Right? Right. Maybe it was because he was used to taking care of other people, or maybe he was just a nice idiot. "Hey," he called out, "you're gonna get a cold!" Determined to get this kid, or whoever it was, inside and safe he stomped forward. Mud clung to his boots as he went along until he stopped. Oh, it was that lady. "Oh, what're you doing?", he was right at the proch steps, "Uh... Did I ever tell you my name?" Gosh, had he? If so he couldn't remember it. His eyebrows pushed together as he again wiped snot on his sleeve like a little kid.
