Even as a child nobody protested eating a dog or even defending it. Especially when there was children who could thrive on that dogs meat. He saw it as a little selfish even if all she wanted was some companionship. There was more important things, like keeping the next generation alive. Still, dogs were very adorable animals so it wasn't all that surprising someone would want one. It was just weird. Unfamiliar, really. You ate animals, that's what made the most sense.
