Pinching the bridge of his nose lightly as he entered the lounge for today’s meeting, Eddie felt a tension linger heavy in the air. Whether it was from the awkwardness between families who could not succeed at uniting (William still seemed to be reeling from the proposal gone wrong) or the fact that people were beginning to hear through the grapevine that Aiden’s body had been found under suspicious circumstances, the atmosphere was certainly one to feel uncomfortable in.

Eddie said nothing at all, instead shifting his weight once taking his place in his usual spot, features unreadable as brows knitted together, whilst he waited for the room to fill up before giving the news.

— simple as life had been around the lodge, rich wasn't quick to turn a blind eye to the rising tensions within the place. from a rejected proposal - that rich had apparently been lucky to miss -  to rising rumors about finding aiden's body, there was reason for such high strain within flintlock. he glanced around at the familiar faces. he tried not to get mixed up or dragged into other people's affairs. though with aiden's body supposedly being found, and with suspicion regarding her cause of death, perhaps that was a more worrying subject than he might have originally guessed.

he silently looked up from his chair towards ed, the side of face absently propped up against one hand. eddie. unreadable as ever, even in a room where the tension seemed to have everyone else noticeably uncomfortable. maybe because he had more answers and knew more than the others did. maybe he'd catch everyone up to speed. he raised his brows. guess he'd find out sooner rather than later.

After what he had discovered, he wasn’t sure what to even think anymore. With the evidence that had been gathered, it was beginning to seem more and more likely that someone in the surrounding area had committed an atrocious act. Once people began to settle down, Eddie was stern yet quiet.

❝ Adien’s body has been recovered. I’d like to thank everyone who was involved in searching for her, and I’m glad that we will at least be able to find some closure in this difficult time. ❞ Features were unreadable, eyes reading the room perceptively. Perhaps somebody in this room had been the one to end her life; the signs seemed to lead back to this lodge. ❝ She was murdered. Shot and buried nearby the last place she’d been seen. I will be speaking to each person who went on that patrol with her that day individually to map out her last few moments - not saying that it is anyone here, but we need answers. ❞

He shifted his weight, brows furrowed carefully before he continued, ❝ I have recruited a bounty hunter that I know to help with this case. You will treat Danny as one of our own whilst he’s here; he has shown to be very helpful in solving cases. ❞ A pause; and then, ❝ I have the list of names of the people who were on the patrol that day, and over the next couple of days I will go down the list and speak to each and every single person in my office, starting with- ❞ He went quiet as he removed a folded piece of paper from his pocket, opening it up to view the list before saying, ❝ Brooke, please. ❞ He looked up to the NPC, then stating, ❝ If you could follow me to my office after this meeting is over, Brooke- ❞

Suddenly, it seemed as if no one in the lodge was innocent. It could have been any of these people who had killed Aiden. Swallowing hard, Ed glanced at each and every face before he said, ❝ There will be a memorial service for Aiden tomorrow night down in the town centre. A’right. Meeting dismissed. ❞ He took a small step back, glancing over towards Alfonso briefly as he watched the way his older brother managed to hold himself together just about. With puffy, reddened eyes, it was clear that the anguish was there, yet he couldn't dare break down in front of the lodge. Ed was silent, watching how Alfie was quick to stand up and leave, until he looked towards Brooke and nodded his head towards the door for her to follow him.

He would get to the bottom of this, for Alfonso and for Aiden.

[align=center][div style="width: 400px; text-align: justify; font-size: 12px; font-family: calibri; letter-spacing: .6px; color: #494949;"]whether it be out of spite from recent events or feeling as though she can keep on top of any updates in the search for aiden. joey still hasn’t even fully made sense of the last week or so. she’s glad she turned it down, she can’t imagine being married off at only twenty-one and it felt good to kick william down a few pegs. in the back of her mind, nerves are creeping in, though. her pride is trying to drown them out, however, they seem to continue to come back with vengeance. it might have been smarter to jump on the opportunity, secure a spot in flintlock, aligning herself with the stirlings, playing to eddie’s loyalties, but it’s a bit too late.
joey makes her way to the lounge, hand holding her side and back for a little support. she huffs and sits down on the couch, leaning to the side against the arm rest. running a hand through her hair, glancing up at edmund. her jaw clenches, there’s something about the feeling in the room that makes her incredibly uneasy. and her feeling is right, aiden’s been found.

she feels sick, this is the end to life as she knows it, huh? before eddie can even finish, joey gets up quickly and begins to speed walk out of the room. she needs air, otherwise she’ll really fall apart in from of all those eyes. she could simply blame it on being pregnant, right? no biggie. it worked before, it had to work again.
