She couldn't say she knew just how dark Mateo's colors were. She didn't know that she had found someone whose bottomless ambition and ruthlessness matched her own. She did know there was something familiar reflected back in those green eyes of his.

And come on, she was Selena goddamn Felix. There was nothing any man could throw at her that she couldn't handle. If Mateo did turn on her, she had enough leverage over him to handle it. She was the only thing standing between him and Bluestem after all, and though she wasn't rubbing that in his face any, she kept that in her back pocket. Even the seemingly selfless things she did had ulterior motives.

Ah yes, two of a kind, Selena and Mateo. She had just been mulling over the whole last name situation, whether she would keep Felix or take Suarez, or perhaps hyphenate it. She never actually thought she'd bother with marriage, so the concept had never been given much thought. She figured she'd be a Felix forever, but she'd be lying if the name "Selena Suarez" didn't sound appealing to her.

Hmm, interesting, he damn near forgot to give half of his pleasantries. And they weren't even possessing the pleasant tone she might expect! "Don't seem too excited now, Greenie. Disappointed you'll be the best man and not the groom?" She didn't know how sour things had turned between the men behind the scenes. As far as she knew, their friendship was intact, so why not give him some gentle teasing? He was going to have to get used to it; after all once she had her baby and was Mrs. Suarez (or Mrs. Felix, she still hadn't decided), Green would likely be seeing even more of her much more casually.
