[align=center][div style="width: 500px; text-align: justify; font-family: helvetica; font-size: 9.4pt; line-height: 1.4;"]He’s used to the colder temperatures; he’d been immersed in it all of his life. Big jackets and thick sweaters were practically all that he owned in his closet, collected in the line of temporary homes strewn across dim memory like candy wrappers. He doesn’t like too look behind him, though. It caused him too much nostalgia, too much pain of what he’s left behind and instead, he looks ahead, using his infatuation with the lost instead of the living distract him from his shitty odds. He knows he’s lost, and he might continue to lose, but at least he has those goddamn ghouls.

It makes him anxious, but there are good habits that do. When his mind is stimulated about wondering from a life aside from his, he’s flying. His life isn’t much, after all, but lying wake of ‘used-to be’s’ and ‘what-if’s’ and that, too, makes him anxious. Not in a good way, though. But in the way where your chest aches and you’re lacking sleep going onto your second day. That could be the fear of demons, too, but that was besides the point. That’s kind of what happened when they were attracted to your presence. At least, in some way, he could confront that. With his past, he couldn’t. Shit like that, it was never that simple.

Though when temperatures fell, so did his mood. And despite being ’alone’ most of his life, never truly having those people or even that person, he doesn’t like to be. He was self-aware that being in the company pf his own thoughts could be a dangerous thing and so, he settles off to find someone, if nowhere in particular. As he moves along, surroundings become increasingly familiar until he lands at the door of an old building, far too stable not to be occupied.

He still remains cautious as he wraps his knuckles on the door. Despite the dangerous that could be lurking in this action, he’s nothing to lose but the bag on his shoulders, heavy with camera equipment rather than basic necessities to survival. Well to him? Those were his basic necessities.

evan doesn't like being cold. it might come as a surprise as she loves the snow and loves being in the mountains, but in reality she can't stand being outside for too long without complaining. hence why she was in the lodge instead of being productive. or at least her definition of productive. leaving back in a chair and working at the small lap loom, she but her lip. the yarn had gotten tangled yet again. this shawl was not going to turn out well, she was out of practice.

she nearly jumped out of her skin at the knock.

evan has been anxious her whole life. she's constantly worried about those she cares about, so the knock makes her even more concerned. who could that be? was someone hurt? setting the loom on the flor, she darted to the door and swung it open, looking nervous as hell. as always.

"oh! who are you?" she asked, blue eyes wide in shock. "excuse me, i'm sorry, do you want to come in?" perhaps she shouldn't let random strangers into the lodge, but he looked cold and she figured she could take him he she needs to.

/god my tense is all whacked up i'm sorry lmao

"Hold on a sec, pal." Interrupted the middle-aged man, his intense and dark eyes locked onto the stranger at the door. He appeared behind Evan and then beside her, taking his place in the doorway. Warmth was absent from his features; there was only suspicion.

"What's in the bag? Where'd you come from?" Had the bag not looked so weighted and bulging, then perhaps Victor would have completely ignored it altogether. He was a cautious type, however, and was only looking out for his own survival. For all they knew, he could step foot into the lodge and shoot everyone within the vicinity, or even light a match and set the place ablaze. There was no way that Victor was getting snuffed out by some kid after twenty one years of surviving the apocalypse.

of course. victor was what evan likes to call... extremely annoying and a pain in the ass but how would one say that in a nice way? pausing for a moment, she blew a lock of hair out her eyes. "you didn't specify what to hold onto and now it's been over a second either way," she responded, suppressing the annoyance she felt. victor seemed very insecure about his own and the lodge's abilities.. "okay great, bud, now we can continue, sorry about that! now you can come in!" she'd open the door all the way, an easy smile on her lips.

it wasn't as if she was being stupid. she knew the risks, she just didn't give a shot. that and she knew that the whole lodge could take one measly little asshole who decided to fuck with them. this kid didn't look like a measly little asshole. us against them was a mindset for cavemen. the lodge was an open home. how else and she and victor even gotten in?

speaking of victor, while she was waiting for this kid to decide if he wanted in or not, she was sure he was going to be losing his shit. taking a deep breath, she readied herself for it. victor was an easy fight after all, she'd more than win against an old, paranoid man. if he didn't want to risk 'snuffed out by some kid' at the expense of 'some kid's' survival then he didn't belong in a group.
