Maybe I’m Foolish, Maybe I’m Blind // Private

Today was a bit different then what Gabriel was used to. His squad in the military was getting a new recruit. Some younger male by the name of Jack Morrison, who’s done nothing but worked on a farm his whole life until he signed up for the military.

Of course, Gabe was ready to accept him despite his background. Anyone could become an excellent soldier given time and proper training and discipline. And the rest of his group were very close, like family, so he knew they’d be open and accepting of him as well.

Gabriel was currently hanging out with the others since nothing was really going on today. Gabe was leaning against the wall, watching as the others told jokes and stories to each other. He smiled softly.

after a while, one of the higher ups walked in with a slightly shorter blonde male, and the higher up loooed to Gabe. “reyes, this is morrison, your new recruit.” he stated. jack shifted a bit awkwardly and looked at Gabe.

Gabe and the others fell silent when the higher up walked in. Gabriel looked over at the smaller male. He nodded. “Hello Morrison. Welcome to the group. We’ll get you settled in and show you around the base.” Gabe said

he smiled slightly. “uhh.. thanks. you can call me john, if you want.” he offered, smiling slightly.

Gabe nodded. he then turned to the group. "This is my squad, and your new comrades. Get to know them and bond with them when you can." Gabe murmured. "And don't worry, they're not as intimidating as they look." He said

he nodded and looked over them, trying to find the least intimidating one and walking up to a woman with darker skin and starting to talk. after only a second, they were both smiling and laughing g.

Gabe watched the two before heading off to get some quick paperwork done.

After a moment, a male walked over to the two of them. he had shorter black hair and a mustache. He was taller then Jack by a foot and had slightly darker skin then Jack with brown eyes. " 'Ello there Jack. It is nice to see some new faces around here." The man greeted, smiling,

he looked over and smiled slightly. “uh.. john. my names john.” he said and shifted anxiously. “but it’s nice to meet you too..”

He blinked. "Ah, well nice to meet you John." He said. "My name is Gerard Lacroix. Our commander, he's actually a big softie so don't be fooled when he starts acting tough." He murmured

he blinked and looked at Gabe, blinking. “i’ve wrestled bulls more menacing than him.”
he stated, looking to gerard.
