gabe looked to jack from where he was laying and frowned. "morrison."he stated and gestured for him to come over. he hadn't moved off the table, too afraid that the stitches would come out.

Jack blinked. He got up, hesitantly moving over to Gabriel. “...Yes Commander?” Jack asked, locking eyes with him as he straightened a bit to be standing in a more militaristic way.

he held up a hand, fingers spread. "you did good." he said. "thank you. A lot more people would've died if you hadn't taken over." he said.

Jack nodded after a minute. “Just doing my duty, sir.” He murmured.

he nodded and winced slightly as he shifted. "yeah, but you stood up when no one else knew what to do. that says a lot, morrison."

He looked him over. He then glanced down. “A more senior member would have known what to do differently to recent as many deaths. I could have saved more of our soldiers.” He whispered.

“You did what no one else could today, Jack. I know losing comrades is always hard. But...If not for you we all probably would have died, Jack. As well as those hostages. You’re a hero, Jack. And those soldiers we lost today aren’t going to be forgotten. It’s your privilege to them now to continue telling stories of their life so they’re never forgotten, and to tell the families of what happened to them to give them peace of mind. That’s...Never an easy thing to do. But that’s one of our jobs when we join the military.” Maria said.

“I know.” Jack whisoered. He was silent for a moment. “...Once we’de Settled back in at the base, I’ll search for the families of the fallen and go there to let them know what happened.” Jack said.

he sighed. "im gonna go with you, so dont go as soon as he get to base, would you?"

He glanced at Gabreil. “Commander, you’re injured. You should be resting and just focusing on getting better. I can do this alone. I lead them to their deaths, I can carry the burden of this task.” He said

he shook his head. "they're my troops, jack. I wasn't there to help, so i'm going to be there to apologise!" he snapped.

Emre sighed, looking at Gabe. “These things happen in war all the time, regardless of whether you’re there to help or not.” Emre said. “That’s just the fact about all this fighting.” He murmjred.

Jack nodded. If Gabe wanted to come along, that was fine. It would probably be easier to do anyway knowing he had company helping him. “I’ll wait until you’re ready to set out sir.” Jack whispered
