It's a sort of patrol thing, as the title suggests. I'm not sure how well I'll be able to explain it, but I'll do my best!
Basically, it's a system of randomized events. For each patrol, there will be one leader (a HP character unless nobody is available) that gets a randomized number, 1-10. If they roll a 1, the patrol is the most boring thing on the face of the earth. No danger at all. A 10 would be catastrophic. This is where things like avalanches or blizzards would occur.
But the point of these threads is that everything that happens is up to the patrol. For example, if the patrol was a 6, they could get attacked by a few wild dogs. But what happens is up to the characters there. Say Character A is a total pacifist. Maybe they convince the others to feed the dogs instead of kill them. Or they could be terribly afraid of dogs and kill them on sight. Character B could get injured, and now the patrol has to deal with that too. There are no set plots for these patrols aside from what the people in the patrol want. It's meant to add a level of randomization to threads. Nobody has to worry about pushing the boundaries on a thread they didn't make.
Threads can go as long or as short as people want. If they get boring, feel free to roll the dice and add something new. These would be private unless the patrol wants to open it up after a certain point, or after something major happens so people can come and rescue injured parties. And to clear something up, a level 10 patrol doesn't mean someone has to be grievously injured or in need of a rescue. If that's interpreted as something like an avalanche, it can happen far enough away that characters aren't affected.
If anyone would like, I could lead a sort of example patrol with Win to show how it goes, and you can join in to see if it's something you like participating in?

— While the leaders of patrols are generally HPs since it would be their responsibility, there can definitely be IC reasons for a non-HP to be leading a patrol. Just discuss!
— 99% sure Win and Joh wouldn't let children go on patrols, sorry. Maybe they can sneak along if you would like to work with that.
— Patrols don't have to be entirely private! Like. Joiners wandering into patrol threads or something like that, if that's cool with all involved.
— If this is something that people want to keep around, I can work out ideas for what each number might mean. (1=wow you found a rabbit, 2=shit a branch fell, etc)
— more will probably be added as i think / answer questions/concerns?
