I WILL SING NO REQUIEM
Clara wasn't sure how long it'd been anymore. Months, she knew. It still felt so fresh in her mind and every time she woke up she expected to be back in her house, back in Florence where she'd been trapped. It'd taken her so long to do it, to gather up the courage and leave that awful place. She wasn't even sure where she was going as long as it was away from him. She'd woken up in the night and gathered what materials she thought she'd need from her little home and then left. Those things had only been sufficient to get her passage on a boat to a new land, a new country. She knew everywhere was a disaster right now but maybe if she could get away from her husband then there was no place she wasn't willing to go. She had no real way to know if he had followed her to this new country and she had no way of knowing if he was even looking for her but with how possessive he'd been, she wouldn't doubt it.
So, when she had finally arrived in this new place she had gone to the nearest town and tired to learn more about the surrounding area, and even places farther away. One place had stuck out to her, a place that she knew her husband would not follow her, if only because he wouldn't think the gentle girl would go straight towards it. The Badlands. She wasn't even certain she would survive the journey there but to die was better than to be caught by her angered spouse.
But she had made it. Against all odds, she had made it here. She no longer had anything but a few clothing items she'd brought along, some food and water she had rationed over time, and her wedding band. It would seem odd to most that she still wore it but she had mostly done it because it stopped unwanted advances when she had first headed out. Besides, if it wasn't entirely successful she'd spot the largest man in the room, point to him, and claim he was her husband which seemed to scare off most people. However, she wasn't wearing it currently. She didn't care to wear it, given the memories that haunted it and for now it was tucked into the bag she still had with her after all this time. She was thankful now that she'd been able to find lighter clothing before coming here. She had her hair up thanks to a package of hair ties she'd found some time ago, she had sneakers on her feet, and she had simple jeans shorts a yellow tank top. She had looked everywhere for sunscreen before making the journey but had been unable to find a full bottle. She had been able to find one that was already mostly empty and covered as much of her body as possible but with the amount of time she'd spent walking, her skin was now taking on a light pink as the sun's rays beat down on her.
She was finally approaching the city and she felt herself tensing out of habit. While she loved the presence of others, people these days were volatile to say the least. Her bag had made her a target on more than a few times, as had her ring but she'd managed to outrun her opponents most often.
She had never really learned how to fight but she'd always found her own way out somehow and she'd do the same this time. Still, even while feeding herself reassuring words she could feel her heart hammering in her chest. She'd heard people here were even worse than elsewhere. She took a few deep breaths as she continued walking. This would be fine. She'd figure it out, just like she had figured everything out so far. It would be fine.
//hi guys!! this is my first time rping in bb so just let me know if I have anything messed up about lore/transportation/etc! I read a few of the guides but I'm not 100% sure about a few things still so if you ever see any inconsistencies in my writing, feel free to let me know.
