sam's trying to be semi-professional and film everything so they can use it as evidence and the cp police department can't deny or cover it up but it derails so fast bc devon's harold howitzering and the camera's pointed down every two minutes bc sam's doubled over laughing and whenever there's a sound devon's directed towards it like a pointer dog and sam's totally not using him as a human shield

wait waiT i was gonna say sam is partially excused bc crows point is so out of touch with the times but also she doesn't know what twerking is or dabbing or any of the regrettable dance trends since 2000 she is a Pure who knows only the twist and the shout
devon can't take her to a club her heart might give out

slightly unrelated but is this boy really wearing a sequined bomber jacket rn and also this is both adorable and heartbreaking? like it hurts that feels the need to put himself and the song down when it's So Good and it's totally how i envision devon performing tbh, just like song song self-deprecation songity song??

they actually do hear something really weird and they try and record it
they've run out of space on the recorder, they have to look through a million hours of sam and devon Doinking Around instead
devon is tall and sam could easily hide behind him and be safe from everything

devon doesn't go to clubs so they're okay

ok some small thoughts (largely bc i only have 4 episodes of twin peaks left so i'm marathoning two of them and i'm feelin the spook rn)
- for the murder part of our murder mystery, maybe it's a girl sam went to school with? and this girl didn't have many friends or connections and if a murder in a quiet little town like crows point wasn't so Crazy, she probably could've dropped off the face of the earth and nobody would've been the wiser. and sam identifies with her, really doesn't want to be her, and feels a need to avenge her, hence the putting on of the detective cap
- as for devon's motivation, sam could be showing him around crow point and they stumble across the body? or maybe devon comes into town at night and sam sets him up at the grand southern™ or offers him her guest room or somethin that makes her his alibi, which is important the following morning when the body's found and there's only one (possibly murderous) newcomer to be spoken of, so they have to clear devon's name too?
- not spooky but when they first meet, the name tag on her uniform says samantha but she's all "everyone calls me sam" so devon does. but, really no one calls her sam, she just wishes they did. half of the town still calls her sammy lou from when she was four (and if he dares,,)

yes they have two minutes of Important Information hidden beneath hours of mess
the fbi won't be hiring them anytime soon

there's this line in a play i was in where it's like "i don't care enough about you guys to kill anyone, but i will say that none of the deaths have perturbed me in any way" and that's devon

they end up being accidental crime bros which is hard for devon because he wants to be alone all the time and hard for sam because,,, she's with this dude who hates everything

once he calls her sammy lou in his 40s movie star accent and she punches him

they go out saturday night it's great
