[align=center][div style="width: 400px; text-align: justify; font-size: 12px; font-family: times new roman; letter-spacing: .6px;"]why did this place have to be so fucking hot?
kirby, stupidly, had decided to finish her way to the badlands in the middle of the day, the sun proudly glaring down on her and stevie. the pitbull mix was ahead of her, tongue hanging out of her mouth as she panted with her tail wagging crazily. she didn't seem too bothered by the heat, unlike her owner who was walking at a snail's pace a few yards back, groaning loudly as she threw her head back. she had heard countless stories about the badlands for years now, but only recently became more intrigued by the oceanside city when they became more focused on the casino, but she was quickly starting to regret any interest she ever had in it. when she was traveling with her family, they had made their way to warmer places, but nothing compared to the heat here - she wanted to have a good time, not end up in satan's armpit.
finally, the city started to come into view and kirby sighed a breath of relief. she whistled to stevie and knelt down in a shady area to begin shifting through her backpack as her companion made her way back towards her. she pulled out the metal bowl she had kept for the dog, setting it on the ground before pulling out the canteen of water. she tried to peer into it and estimate how much water was left, deciding to just empty the rest of it into stevie's bowl when she came to terms with the fact that there was enough for one of them. she was fine with that, of course, wanting her dog to be as comfortable as possible. she was thirsty, but she could hold off until someone finally came around.
the young adult put the canteen back into her bag and sat down on the ground, leaning back onto the building as she watched stevie drink. it only took a few moments until the bowl was empty and stevie walked over to lay down beside her out of the sun. "good girl." kirby murmered, reaching over to lightly pet the dog's head as she looked around through heart shaped sunglasses to see if she could see any of the group's residents nearby.
