//tw for blood, violence, injuries, death, etc
Ah, there was indeed a question for them. One that was actually a solid thing to ask, from someone they had begun to think quietly exited the Badlands. Well, great. They leaned forward a bit, elbows resting on their knees, face scrunching up from pain. "We went into their camp a killed a number of them, yet still made it out alive. If they're stupid enough to think they can take on the entirety of the Badlands, we'll show them just how wrong they are." With a red-stained finger, they traced a circle on the table beneath them. "We'll write the lesson in blood. Theirs, this time." They flicked their finger, sending a red droplet flying.
And then... Mike. Ugh, they should have known he'd get pissy about the whole thing, seeing as Creed's life had been in jeopardy. If only he could wait before having his temper tantrum. "No more than you." They sighed. Really? They were gonna have to deal with this now. "She actually dragged me along on it, and if we're defining what the mission was, it was a rescue mission, not a suicide mission. If we were looking to die we wouldn't be here right now." Giving up and letting the Insurrectionists or whatever the fuck they called themselves kill them would have been much easier. But that wasn't what was supposed to happen, so here they were.
Cat wasn't going to give him a chance to respond, though, because they didn't want this getting out of hand. They just wanted to do the meeting and go home, so getting derailed in an argument with Mike was definitely not on the agenda. "And before you go off some more, think. Is now the time and place? Do I look like I need another reason to put a bullet through your skull?" Mike looked down at the ground and mumbled "no". "That's what I fugging thought. Now," their icy gaze swept around the room, "can I get on with the meeting?"
No one said anything, but the look on Molly's face was withering. The threats of violence and bloodshed, no doubt. "I'm sorry, Ma, but this is who I am and what I do. You don't like it, door's over there." They pointed, and for a moment they could see her debating it in her head. Then, much to their surprise, she left. Great. Fucking great. They rubbed their face. God, they just wanted to lay down. Why was everyone picking now to go against them? What about them being a complete wreck made people think it was a good idea to challenge them?
They groaned and faced their audience. It really was quite the turnout. Oh joy. "Joiners. We had a few, and I hope you'll forgive me if I just list them instead of giving little customary shout outs." Not that it really mattered whether or not people would forgive them. "We've got Remus, Rae, Ellis and Will. Welcome to the Badlands, I'm not normally this big of a dick." Cat normally was the proud owner of a very long rope, but after getting the shit kicked out of them and having their patience tested by Mord, Creed, Mike and Molly, well... They were running out of rope to hold onto.
"Alright, where the fug is Mord?" They scanned the room, finally spotting him. "I took a potshot at you. I know, I know. I'm the one that said that shit's not allowed. So if you want, you can even up the score." They already had a black eye to match his, but they were hypocritical enough as it was in how they did certain things. Mord shrugged and shook his head. "It's fine." Well, they felt some amount of relief, seeing how badly they were already hurt. They tried to hide it, though. "It better not be because I already got my arse handed to me." They didn't want anyone's pity.
Oh, right. "Speaking of which, I want someone to host a combat training. I'd do it, but my doctors will probably counsel bedrest. Hah." Nothing sounded better to them than that right now, but they knew themself well enough to know they wouldn't be staying there for very long. They had to prove to themself that they weren't beat by this. "So if anyone wants points with me, that'd be a good way to get them."
"In surprisingly non-violent news, Lucerne gets two things." They reached into the box and took out a red bandanna and a white armband. "Ta da. You're a full member of the Badlands now and the medic title." He'd at long last demonstrated his skills and, if they were to guess, they couldn't imagine he had any plans of leaving without Addy. And Addy? They already knew what his deal was. "Congratulations." Ah, shit, their hands were still bloody. It wouldn't show up on the red bandanna, but it was a bit harder to miss on the white armband. "You can grab a clean one if you like."
Ah, right, all the newcomers. They reached into the box and took out several of the Badlands' signature necklaces, then looked around. They really didn't want to sit around here for another few minutes passing them out. "Addy. Make sure the newbies get these. I'm gonna go lie down." They got down from the billiard table and passed a few to the redhead, then grabbed the box and headed towards the door. "Meeting dismissed, obviously."
OOC Summary and Announcements:
Yeah so as y'all can tell, Cat and Creed went on a mission and barely made it back. This is only the beginning, and there will be more done with this later on so stay tuned.
I apologize for Cat's moodiness to the joiners, but I'd like to offer a warm welcome (back to most) to Remus/Sheo, Rae/Chara, Ellis/Truce and Will/Aj.
Cat admitted to breaking their own rule with violence and asked Mord if he'd like to return the blow they gave him, but he declined.
Cat wants there to be a combat training done in preparation for a possible attack from the Insurrection. Anyone that wants points with them should volunteer to host it.
Lucerne is now fully initiated and given the Medic title!
Cat would like Addy to pass out the necklaces to the newbies so they can go lay down.
I threw up my draft for the choice awards so if you're interested in suggesting something for it, do so sooner than later!
I also put up my wip ideas for the incentives thing here and I could really use some feedback on it.
Reminder to everyone in the discord to try and reply evenly to plotting requests in the plotting channel. I've noticed there be certain times where if someone asks they get ignored, but if someone else asks they get a barrage of requests. I know that muse and timezones sometimes get in the way, but I hate seeing people get ignored so do your best to be more inclusive there (and everywhere).

[b]and i say to myself, what a wonderful world Michael's voice ripped through the air, intensifying the atmosphere with his anger. Sheogorath reached for the man, placing a gentle hand upon the other male's shoulder and offering a squeeze of his slender fingers, as if that would offer some amount of comfort. The last thing he wanted was for Michael to get in some kind of terrible trouble. Sheogorath knew what that was like. When Catalyst addressed the issue, Sheogorath found himself growing defensive, but he kept his mouth shut. He was still a worm, probably would be for the rest of his time in the Badlands. There was no sense in digging his hole any deeper.
The meeting went on, typical stuff. Sheogorath was just glad he wasn't mentioned. Catalyst could have made some smart-ass comment about seeing Sheogorath out and about after three months of solitude, but they didn't. He was just fine with that. Sheogorath didn't want any amount of attention from the leader. They probably thought he wasn't worth their acknowledgement anyways, despite the fact that they always seemed to show up wherever he was. Then it was over. Meeting dismissed. Sheogorath didn't stay after that, he had no reason to, and he needed to cool down after the tense interaction between Michael and Catalyst. Without a word, the red head took his leave.

Cat's swift and vengeful response to his outburst was to be expected, but the sharpness of it still stung slightly. Though it did help to calm him a bit more. His jaw was clenched, his need to say something else squelched by Cat's explanation, a rescue mission meant one thing, and Creed's dejection meant that it had failed, meaning that... well, he didn't want to dwell on it. It was just another promise he'd failed to fulfill.
The dark haired man bit his upper lip, and listened, his body rigid, though no longer as tense, the blood vessels in his forehead and neck had ceased to bulge from his skin. As Cat all but wrapped up the meeting, the man interjected before it could be fully finished. "If you want, Boss," He used the different title of "boss" perhaps because there was some respect in the man again for Cat's actions... Creed was still alive, and she probably would not have been if Cat had not gone with her.
He inhaled quietly before continuing. "I can host that training, combat is in my wheelhouse." He wasn't sure how the offer would be taken, seeing as Mike wasn't really in Cat's good graces at all, and the boss had no real reason to trust him with the training or education of the Badlanders, however, he thought he'd offer, try to be helpful, not anger the boss more.
[align=center] MICHAEL FORD Michael Ford is a 45 year old, man, he's stubbornly loyal to whatever cause he chooses, protective of his family and friends, he's a member of the Badlands. 「 when mord found his way into the badlands, he never expected there to be any true peace. even in the modern world, a quiet, carefree lifestyle was near impossible to achieve even for the wealthiest, most successful people. no matter how much they tried to convince themselves that the uneventful was the desirable, that the ideal life was one without cares; in the end, humans were made to want change. they craved something to distract themselves from their own inevitable mortality, to avoid going absolutely mad from the thought of an existence without meaning. even if danger meant death, there was always an urge, deep, deep down, for uncertainty. an answer to a question.
however, it was one thing to accept that urge and sate it when neccessary, and another to lose every and all sense of caution and common fucking sense. while mord could admit that he did somewhat enjoy testing morality every now and then, he was not a fan of jumping in head-first without at least having an idea of what that outcome could be; when it concerned himself, anyway. and this time, when he actually didn't mind a little bit of a break, it did.
mord leaned against the back wall as the meeting went on, meticulously scraping off dried bits of blood- not his- that had still clung to his skin and under his nails even after he nearly scrubbed his hands raw. he had always somewhat admired- or rather, enjoyed studying- cat's resilience; when beaten and bloody and half out of their right mind, they still had that determination to never falter. when their friend(?) was severely injured, they wouldn't even allow him to waste the slightest time it would take to put on some fucking gloves. it was stupid, from a medical standpoint, and unnecessary from a punching bag's, but still, mord found it interesting to watch, and admired it, nonetheless.
all that aside, it didn't excuse the fact that this mission was nothing but a bad fucking idea. he held back a cringe when the word ex-military was described, and almost like an alarm switch, the doctor's mind began running. what the hell were those kids thinking? was that god bullshit really going to their head? and, more importantly, what the fuck is next? the man's eyes briefly closed, images of probable, violent outcomes flashing under his aching lids. this was the exactly the kind of shit he had been spending his life trying to avoid. raiders? sure. cannibals? why not. cultists? he would have a hayday. but military was the biggest deal-breaker of them all.
he barely listened to baumann's question, or even the furious bitching of mike that actually just so happened to take the words right out of his head, for once. he didn't care. he was too busy thinking about the next move, and far after that. there was no doubt a bunch of hot-headed thugs would come for them. cat had now given them a reason to. could they hold them off? probably. he didn't have the numbers to know for sure, but, with their wide range of individuals with notably violent skillsets, and the home-field advantage, they could very well hold them off. but, at the same time, there was just something about it that gave him too much fucking doubt.
"Alright, where the fug is Mord?" the man raised his head, slate blue eyes darting up in question to meet cat's searching gaze. great, what did he do now? maybe those god powers included mind-reading after all. "I took a potshot at you. I know, I know. I'm the one that said that shit's not allowed. So if you want, you can even up the score."
oh yeah, that. mord was wondering whether the kid even realized that he had punched him, let alone bring it up. the darkening area around his eye was still working it's way into becoming fifty shades of black and blue, but he could definitely tell by each throb of the swollen flesh that cat got him good. the offer did seem tempting- who wouldn't think so? taking a free shot at the leader was probably someone's wet dream, especially while they were already down. they deserved it, they deserved a lot more than it, and they were gladly accepting it.
however tempting and right it seemed, though, the rat didn't bite. maybe it was because cat had already gotten their fair share of fists today, maybe it was to feel like he was taking the high rode, or maybe his version of evening the score was a bit more permanent; whatever his reason, the man was simply not in the mood. instead, he answered the boss with a nonchalant shrug and shake of his head. "It's fine." they had more important things to deal with, than something as minor as a wild punch in a tense situation. in the end, he supposed, he deserved a lot worse, too. "It better not be because I already got my arse handed to me." mord couldn't resist a smirk at the remark; guess the kid really could read minds, huh.
mord paid slightly better attention to the rest of the meeting than before, although his main focus was still on the problem at hand. combat training was a predictable move, not necessarily a bad one, but it was typical for preparation in violent circumstances. personally? mord wasn't sure how well he fared. he could handle himself pretty well, with the added tricks up his sleeve, but it wouldn't hurt to brush up on things. however, if there was one thing he knew about military, especially the American kind; they liked their guns more than anything, and the last time he checked, fists are about as useful as a screen-door on a submarine compared to bullets. then there was something about a new medic- guess that meant a intellectual blow-fest was on his to-do list now, too- and mentions regarding the new members, but mord was already set on his own plan. he didn't want to go through with it, but he was not going to get killed thanks to a pair of teenagers trying to play war. no, his death would only be through his own doing.
straightening, mord was itching to get out of there as soon as possible. hearing mike offer up his own services made him bite the inside of his cheek impatiently, resisting the urge to roll his eyes. combat training was definitely out of the question now, for him, at least. luckily though, that thick bastard would be too distracted with teaching people to bother him. as soon as cat officially wrapped things up, the man was out of there, barely casting mike a glance as he left. so much for caution. 」[/span]

about time something cool happened at one of these meetings. the redhead watched as mike and josef piped up, slight intrigue in his eyes. yeah, so bad things were finally going to be happening around here- addy should’ve known that they would’ve happened at some point. after all, he had gotten fuckin’ stabbed by some asshole from his past gang. there was finally starting to be some drama happening, and it should’ve been predictable. why everyone was suddenly freaking out about it, he didn’t know. mike was mad about creed wandering straight into trouble and - maybe it was best to just sit back and observe.
next was molly standing up and straight up leaving. damn. he knew he loved her, now her straight up leaving when cat told her too only solidified that. as cat rubbed their face, addy really tried not to laugh at how bad this meeting was going. his lips were twitching, threatening to break out into either a smile or a fit of laughter. however, when cat continued the meeting, he managed to at least sober a little bit. last thing he needed was cat threatening to put a bullet through his own skull. though he doubted the bitchass would do it, anyway.
hearing that lucerne was officially a member of the badlands, and a medic, no doubt… that made him feel a swell of pride. lucerne had finally proven himself, after trying so hard to do the exact opposite. guess all he’d needed was to go and become friends with the local flea-infested mutt and patch it up. well, that and patch him up- but those were both sort of the same thing, now that he thought about it.
“addy. make sure the newbies get these. i’m gonna go lie down.â€Â
his gaze turned up as catalyst handed him some the necklaces before they headed towards the door. oh, great. remus, rae, ellie, and will- right? standing up, he glanced around the crowd for all of the people. â€Âalright. welcome to the badlands, i fuckin’ guess.â€Â

Who in the world had taken on the leader of the Badlands? They had just returned from a mission, if he recalled correctly, so something must have happened out there. They would address it soon, surely.
Gabriel appeared in the midst of the crowd, folding his arms across his chest and fixating his attention onto Catalyst, who had right away jumped to the situation at hand  they had been attacked by.. another group? The teenager frowned. He knew of bandits and rogues, though he hadn't known of another aggressive group existing out here, especially not like one that Cat had described. They sounded utterly intimidating, and he could feel his heart begin to sink into the depths of his stomach.
The rest of the meeting continued on like normal, though all Gabriel could think about was the new enemies that they had gained. The very thought of having to put up a fight with these people was scary. Gabriel had never been apart of a battle of that kind of magnitude, if not ever. Hopefully the group wouldn't find them, or hopefully Cat wouldn't go seeking them out again. He felt that it would be best to leave them be and prevent them from finding out where they lived.

having spent much of her time so far in the badlands with ellis, untrusting of its other residents for now, rae had almost not attended this meeting. the lack of familiarity in this new place had her out of sorts, and her detestation for authority didn't help, but even so she had shown face. perched awkwardly on a bar stool, looking rather unassuming, she listened to her new leader with eyebrows furrowed. this was the first time she'd laid eyes on catalyst since they had accepted her and her partner into the badlands, and they seemed almost debilitated compared to the intimidating figure whom she had first encountered. she quickly realised why.
rae wasn't one to back down from a fight - quite the opposite in fact, but even she was hesitant at the idea of fighting a side in the war between the badlands and this other group. after all, she had only just got here, and whilst she was happy for the asylum that had been provided to her and ellis, her loyalty was certainly not with catalyst - not yet, anyway.
the young girl was visibly taken aback when catalyst threatened michael. though she'd never admit it out loud the two of them were just as daunting as each other and if rae was sensible she wouldn't get on the bad side of either of them. the thought of a battle between the two made her almost queasy. despite catalyst attempting to somewhat elevate the tone of the meeting, when they mentioned rae's name she was almost afraid that she too had fucked up in some way, and even though they assured her and her fellow joiners that they weren't usually like this, rae was now determined not to piss catalyst off if she could help it.
finally, catalyst was finished, and strode towards the exit, though not before handing one of the members - addy, was it? - a bundle of what looked like necklaces. whatever this was it must be some sort of tradition in the badlands, in her short time here she'd seen folk wearing various tokens that seemed to indicate rank. feeling frankly put-out by the meeting, addy's blunt and unenthusiastic 'welcome' didn't help, but she nonetheless shot him the warmest smile she could manage. despite her reservations she wanted to make an effort here.

Mike's voice offering to host the training was the only thing that gave them pause as they started heading to the door. It was probably expected that they'd reject his offer, but it would be a foolish idea to do so. Not only was combat very much in his wheelhouse (hell, he was probably more qualified than anyone to do this), he used to be in the Insurrection. He knew their tactics, how they worked. They were actually sort of glad that Mike had offered. "Go for it."

| [div style="width: 260px; min-height: 270px; font-size: 12px; text-align: justify; color: #000"]Describing the emotions flying through her head right now was difficult. She was furious at Cat for going out and almost getting killed, for bringing down the wrath of god-knows-who. For not even succeeding in whatever foolish mission they had set out on. For promising to write lessons in blood and threatening to shoot Mike. Molly might not be happy with the man whatsoever thanks to what he did to Brendan, but she had no desire to see the man dead.
This whole thing. This whole ridiculous display. It was pure insanity. Molly had known that Catalyst had changed a lot from the kid that she had raised for those nine short years, but right now she looked at them and saw absolutely nothing that she recognize. Not their face, scarred and battered by fights they never should have been in. Not their posture that was stiff yet determined. Not their eyes, cold and closed off. Certainly not the tongue that spoke of rivers of blood.
What was a mother that could no longer stand by her child to do but leave?
