The Wolf Among Us ; the Fables comics
— Once Upon A Time
— Enchanted
— ( Vaguely ) Decedents

> Fables are technically considered Fabeln or Märchen ( Fabulae or Fabula ), although their species does not have an exact name because of the variety among them. Fables differ from common magical creatures because of their knowledge and presence in the imagination of humans—which brings in the idea of essence. This explains why there are beings such as Faeries / Ogres / Trolls that are considered fables but why not all of them are considered as such... that makes little sense, I'll have to go back and discuss that.

> The Fable's homeland is a parallel realm where most of the magic / imagination from the real world "realm" is stored. Humans did not create nor did they imagine them, they came into existence as their world changed and shifted through time with the benefit of magic ( commonly referred to as essence—will go into depth later ). The only way humans have had any contact / knowledge of these fables is because of the Fae, more commonly known as Faeries. The Fae have long existed in both this realm and the lands of the fairy-tales ( name the homelands / homeworld / realm ) and have a tendency to blabber on about the advancements of both worlds. The reason many of the ancient legends / myths / fables tend to be so graphic is because there was nothing holding the Fae back from telling human authors everything about what was happening; however, after the birth of the Shadowhunter / the Nephilim Fae could no longer easily filter in through the mundane world as they had been able to do before. While there are still graphic stories, most in this day and age tend to be less violent or graphic and focus less on a lesson to be taught but rather the achievement won... forgetting the closeness of the Fables to humans themselves.

> A fable does not simply cease to exist because their story is forgotten nor is their story forgotten if they cease to exist. It is possible for a Fable to die, they can be killed; however, if their story is important enough / they have enough essence to do so there is a possibility they can revive themselves ( resurrect ) or their power will be passed on to a child / any being can replace them and gain their powers and abilities. This tends to happen mostly with trolls / goblins / ogres / etc. taking the place of the deceased fable. Again, only a Fable with enough essence will be able to resurrect themselves ( i.e. famous stories ). When a fable is replaced it does not mean that the replacement becomes that fable, it simply acts as a transfer of power because leaving powerful Fable magic suspend or without a host can lead to extremely dangerous situations. Almost every time a being taking the place of a deceased fable will become a witch / wizard / something similar. This is usually the reason why many witches / wizards from fairy-tales do not have backstories. Most of the time when a witch / wizard appears in a fairy-tale it usually means that they are the replacement of another forgotten fable who died and could not revive themselves. Then the witch / wizard melded into a story of their own and were able to help continue the stories of other Fables and to become a Fable themselves.

> That said, when I say "most" I mean it happens every single time except for when it comes to the story of Merlin and the Arthurian Women who are some of the only witches / wizards who were born instead of beasts who took the power of deceased Fables. It was probably one of the most important story in Fable history, although quickly forgotten as time went on in the world of Fables but most of the beings from Arthurian Legend stayed strong because of the intense belief and shared story-telling of the mundane world.

> Let's set this straight: all media created about a specific fairy-tale all has some hints of truth in it. There is no better story nor is there a "right" one because even the classic stories were not told in full by the Fae; that is why many of the Fables here differ so much from known media—humans only got bits and pieces of stories written over time.

> Their realm works at x2 speed.

[ future notes ]

> Discuss what is happening in the homelands ( also, name the homelands ) and why the Fables are scattered among that realm and the real world.
> Write out some of the more popular characters. People like Alice Liddell, Bigby ( rename ), Prince Charming, etc.

> themistocles, theophylaktos, andronicus, aristarchus, philotheos?
> pelagia x hades ; considered to be the very first demi-god child of hades.
> cisgender, probably bisexual or pansexual? honestly, i feel better just not labeling him.
> extremely mixed race and ethnicity, basically impossible to pinpoint exactly where his genetic heritage came from. he is likely northern african, egyptian, persian / middle eastern, helot, greek, or something along those lines. he has a dark complexion, dark eyes, dark hair, but when you look at him you can't say for certain where he came from or what his ethnicity would be. this, unfortunately, caused him a lot of issues within greek society especially because of the status of slaves and the general appearance of the wealthy elite.
> he was born to an athenian slave woman by the name of pelagia in ancient or early greece; i would give an exact date but it probably wouldn't coincide with greek mythology. if i want him to have his affiliation with medusa and the gorgons he would have had to have been born before the legend of perseus so... some time before then. anyway, he was taken away from his mother and sold as an in-house servant to well known politician ( around seven or eight ) where he caused an array of problems because of his spitfire nature. it was a wonder he wasn't executed in front of an athenian court with how many fights, accidents, and various other insults he threw and got into. it was at this time that he met ( unnamed ) of whom would become his best friend and, by all means, his brother. they spent years together in athens, growing up and simply enjoying being kids combined with their daily duties and lowered social standing. i'm not sure what could happen around this time, i know that he struggles with his position in society and is beaten severely by his master because of how he acts and how he is as a person. it's likely that he was sold off one other time before being passed to a spartan blacksmith who treated him almost like a son, which sort of made his own son angry but that's a different story i should figure out his actual myth first before detailing the life leading up.
> alright, his myth, where do i begin. i am not sure about specifics yet nor have i even begun to string all my ideas together but i have a general theme that i'm going for: he fought a war that saved not only humanity but the place of gods as well. i had the idea of the gates of tartarus opening and monsters of all types entering the world of mortals to an unimaginable extent; hell, possibly even tartarus himself had awoken from slumber—maybe he had to fight and put to sleep some of the primordial gods and goddesses. i'm really not sure yet, the war he fights though has nothing to do with mortal battles and, for the most part, he never really went to war against people. he most certainly struggled with the sons of Pposeidon and zeus and probably had to struggle against the hatred of the people because of his history ( social status, race, paternal parent ). i had the idea that in order to combat the beasts from tartarus he befriends and utilizes monsters seen as more intelligent or capable than those before; i.e. he became friends with medusa, had a bond with arachne, took in the dead, and overall united those whom had been wronged by the gods to fight the beasts and titans that threatened to tear down their thrones and destroy humanity as it was. so you can see, he wasn't the most well liked of demi-gods because of this and while there is a FUCKTON in the middle i should talk about there is also the point to be noted: after he saved the world, he was removed from greek mythology.
> don't forget to explain his reunion and loyalty to ( unnamed ) his best friend and brother from childhood who would too grow into one of the greatest soldiers of greece and fight alongside him. i thought about making their relationship romantic but, honestly, i don't see it that way. they are brothers, they are shieldborhters, they fought and died beside each other and maybe later historians will think more of it but... it's just not like that.
> bane of the gods despite his heroic nature and all the good he did for the survival of man and of the gods themselves; from his birth to his eventually "death" he is judged simply on where he came from rather than who he was. to keep his soul from being destroyed when he had to stand before the gods, meduse turned him into stone and hid his statue away in her lair. his name was subsequently scratched out of all stone works, his stories burned on anything written, and the gods cursed anyone who dared speak his name. which is why when perseus came to slay medusa, he had no knowledge of the great statue of him. to this day, in modern time, his statue sits there with his soul bound inside waiting for a time when he is needed.

[div style="borderwidth; width: 500px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify; line-height: 15px; font-size: 9.5pt; font-family: arial"][align=center][ CHARACTER ONE IDEA ]

> I've been having really weird dreams about a sewer town ( I am also not allowed to watch Flushed Away before bed anymore ) and I've been throwing that idea around for a little bit. I would have to research defects when it comes to lack of light exposure because that would be important to accurately represent a character who was born and raised with rarely—if ever—getting to see the sun. I really love this idea I'm just not sure how to go about implementing it, although, I'd be willing to try if I can figure something out. notes below.
    > I'm about to build an entire underground civilization and the first thing that comes to mind is: overpopulation. A possible reason my character could have left was because there just wasn't enough food / they did not agree with the methods used to ration what food there was. Infanticide most certainly happened, if anyone actually made it into their elderly years they often starved to death as families cut them off in hopes of feeding their children. It is a dog eat dog world. If you weren't strong enough, smart enough, or clever enough to survive then you died.
    > In this underground city if infanticide wasn't needed in order to control the population then families usually had a lot of children in order to make money / bring home more food ( honestly, it wasn't well thought out ) and if things became too slim then families would abandoned their children. That or, sometimes, they would sell said children into servitude or marriages to the better off in order to make enough money or food to feed the family for the rest of the week.
    > I'm not sure if my character is going to be male, female, or nb yet but I feel like their gender wouldn't matter much? There's not really a whole lot of gender / sexuality / race hate that can happen in a place where someone will kill their own children for enough food / money to keep themselves alive. So I don't think I have to worry too much on that front? There likely aren't a lot of monogamous couples and they likely have a different idea of what "marriage" is because life-spans tend to be a lot shorter.
    > There are a lot of sick people, a lot of genetic disorders and various plague-like breakouts that often nearly half the population. Although, the people tend to be hardier and are immune to diseases that still affect people who live on the surface because after the breakouts only the strong survived thus there is more of a resilience to certain disorders. Most disorders are factors of the lack of vitamin d and / or the lack of healthy plants and fruits... and also the wading through human feces and ( probably ) the bodies of the deceased that weren't eaten.
    > They likely speak a very simplified version of English and with very little understanding of how verbs / sentence structuring actually works. All are illiterate and can only communicate through pictures and or verbal speech but can't understand written language. "Ain 'bout ow ya see youself but ow you percieves youself."
    > I have no idea how the names should be structured. It's likely all names are just varied versions of actual names that have modified over time and just make no sense now—i.e. Henry now as Henvidy or something similar.

> When it comes to appearance they are varied, however, a lot of them tend to follow a certain make-up genetically. All of them are unhealthily pale and sickly, often with creamy / lighter eye colors that seem glossed over ( said eyes are extremely sensitive to light and it's likely that they have ridiculously amazing eye sight in the dark ). The people themselves seem a lot shorter in stature with thinner limbs, usually longer canines but that depends on the area they inhabit within the sewer.
