Is there a way to turn of message notifications?

Every time I get a pm I get a big box telling me I got a message. I've gotten p annoyed with it at this point because I have to close out of it, etc.. so if there a way to turn them off??

I don't get this notif so I had to check and see what I had unchecked/turned on--go to your profile. modify profile--go down the dropdown menu to 'personal messaging'. there will be a checkbox that says 'show a popup when i recieve a new message', make sure it's not checked, and save! that should fix it
