This was the issue of there being a team worth of kids - the numbers were uneven. So, their pitcher stayed the same and they would just swap when tired. Off to the side, there was a beach chair out for Nonna who had made herself comfortable yelling at them and cheering while also calling out strikes and balls.

It wasn't impressive, but it worked.

Penny was up to bat, with a crack as she hit the ball, dashing towards first base and crashing into Carlo who only caught the ball as she touched it. "You're out!"  "No I am not!" Penny snapped, glaring at him the two going back and fourth before the two were almost going to fight before Nonna shouted "She's safe! Enough. Carlo take over pitching." and they knew better than to argue with Nonna. So Penny stood on first, arms crossed and when Carlo looked back at her, her middle finger was raised in his direction.

"Penelope be a lady!" "Fuck you, Carlo!" "Thank you"  "No problem Nonna!" she grinned, watching as Mati missed the ball and dashed off to steal second, sliding onto the base right as a ball crashed into her stomach as she did so. She just glared at Carlo, knowing it was him, while just sitting with her foot on second holding her stomach. Lore looked from Penny to Carlo and shrugged "Didn't see it Car, I don't know if she made it" though he did walk over to help her up to stand on second before going back to position.

Penny lifted up her shirt to see a welt already forming. Ah, lovely. First her head now her stomach.  "Fuckin' cunt" she muttered, glaring in Carlo's direction. "Are you alright? Brush it off!"  "I'll live Nonna, just a welt." this game would basically be heading into the direction of constantly on the verge of a fight.

leave this here Did you write the book of love, and do you have faith in God above...
Clyde always used to play catch with his father. He was never extremely into sports--he was always the kid to be off playing with bugs in little league--but he still appreciated them, nonetheless. He frowned at Penny as he strolled over, shooting a curious glance between Nonna and her, essentially questioning whether or not he should help.

This was a game for the good Boston folk, and not a game for someone like Teddy who’d not played a sport in his life. This wouldn’t have been the first time he’d stand nearby as an onlooker, though; the Rossi family had frequented an open space to play a game of baseball back when Teddy lived in Boston, and so it was no surprise that they’d swiftly bring the game to The Badlands too.

Standing beside Nonna where she sat in a beach chair, Teddy would cheer for Penny’s team with an impressed round of applause whenever he’d see good playing from someone in her team. ❝ Atta girl! ❞ Teddy huffed as Penny pointed her middle finger towards Carlo, soon glancing to the side to check on Nonna. She’d surely not appreciate Teddy encouraging the behaviour whilst she was in the middle of trying to simmer all the siblings down.

Eventually, the ball slammed into Penny’s stomach, Teddy grimacing out of sympathy before he uttered quietly to Nonna, ❝ Tough game with this lot. Nearly as brutal as da fighting ring. ❞ Whilst there was no blood nor tears yet, this highly competitive game was a disaster waiting to happen, and Teddy couldn’t wait to see it all unfold.
