. . //how do you do that. srsly. I kinda feel bad replying to this bc of how crappy my muse is Usually they wouldn't have anything business-related to do by now unless an emergency situation popped up. They could spend the evenings relaxing in the casino or with their boyfriend, or doing whatever the fuck else they felt like. Tonight it was the former, silently people watching as they were wont to do. They liked seeing how people were here, the subtle little differences between when they were surrounded by vice and taken in by booze versus when they were out and about, usually sober. Usually. Cat had doubts about whether Salem was ever properly stone cold sober. Hungover, maybe. Olga came in, carrying a box and a bag and a pouch, setting up on a nearby table. Cat watched quietly, waiting for her to say something, but instead she just sat there, fiddling with something small. They raised an eyebrow, waiting a few extra moments for something to happen, and just when they were about to give up, something did. Olga brought out the plastic bag and set it on the table, then after a few more moments put something else on it. Alright, time to see what the fuck she was doing. Ugh, standing. They pushed themself to their feet and walked over, peering at the makeshift scrabble board and bag of... whatever that was with one eyebrow raised. "What have we here?" They asked, deciding that was the most neutral way they could. — addy had never been one to play board games. as odd as it was, he didn’t think he had ever played board games as a kid, or even had them in the apartment he grew up in.. not that the redhead ever saw the point in board games, either. hell, the more he learned about them, the more he decided they weren’t for him. they required logic and wit, both things that the redhead didn’t particularly have. he had dropped out right before his freshman year of high school. school smarts, he didn’t pride himself on - rather, it was the street smarts that he found himself carrying an abundance of. however, that being said, it wasn’t like there were games that were made to show off someone’s street skills. of course it would be a game about knowing how to spell shit and make long words. so, that being said, addy was going to get his damn ass kicked if he joined in on this game. seeing catalyst strolling over towards olga with some sort of game, he glanced around for a moment before deciding to join them. guess it was important to say that addy would get his ass kicked if he joined the game - except, for starters, he didn’t even know the game relied on spelling shit correctly. that, and he probably wouldn’t end up joining unless he was begged to. curiosity was getting the best of him, though, as he furrowed his brows and asked along with cat, trying to seem nonchalant, “yeah, the hell is this?” //wow good writing?? who is she pls everyone give me their writing skills i obviously need the help also someone pls help addy he's such an idiot but we stan

Honestly, if there was someone hanging around acting like the post apocolyptic version of Henry IIIV, it'd be the man responsible for a solid twenty-five percent of all member-felt suffering in the Badlands. Did he want to work? Yeah, kinda, but did he? Nope. He had important things to do, like frustrating and pissing off everybody in a five mile radius.
And considering he was in a perpetual hangover-drunk-hangover-drunk cycle, it was not at all surprising that he'd been lurking around the casino nursing a drink and pretending to listen to the chatter of someone he'd been trying to pursue, but now he was having second thoughts as they brought up fucking astrology. Gods, he needed an escape and quick. Oh sweet, there was Cat and Addy and Olga, all doing something that decidedly probably needed his attention. Salem excused himself and hurried over, incredibly glad he gave out those weird tasks because otherwise he would've needed to find a different excuse. And Olga's was boardgames, right? He wasn't sure what the fuck she was doing with all that cardboard, but it did resemble a game he remembered playing like, once in his youth. He hadn't been graced with a family that enjoyed such menial entertainment, so he recalled playing it at a friend's house. "Hey, don't let me take all the credit for this wonderful idea. I anticipated something stupider, like Monopoly." Salem said with a grin, reaching to grab seven letters of his own before taking a seat. Olga also had another suspicious bag on the table, and Salem chose to ignore that for now. Maybe that was the snacks, and they'd caught her still setting up? He did recall demanding snacks, even if it was totally unnecessary and at best stressful busywork for the poor soul who picked boardgames night. — addy watched olga describe the game to catalyst with furrowed brows, glancing between them to see if they were finding the game interesting. the idea of having to pick out seven letters, then try and spell words on the board for points… he couldn’t help but want to turn around on his heels then and there. it didn’t sound confusing, but for some reason addy had a feeling that playing dumb would be better than - actually looking like a fuckin’ idiot while playing the game. he glanced over the board. could he just make shit up, and hope nobody would call him out on it? as olga sent a forced, awkward smile his way, he didn’t return it. instead simply turning his gaze away and then, with a sigh, seating himself beside her and catalyst. “alright. give me that bag.” if he was going to look like an idiot, he guessed he might as well do it by looking like one - completing contradicting everything he had previously told himself like the indecisive dumbass he was. pride, it did that to you. the redhead reached for the pouch once it was offered to him, digging around and plucking seven out. it was when picking the seven out, trying not to look, that his gaze wandered to the seat next to olga- “the fuck is that?” leave it to the redhead to bluntly ask about something, and put it in no-so-kind words-- but no, seriously, what the hell was it? the failed first project at a game board? he reached to pull the chair out a bit to get a better look.

Yeah, they had enough lording over people from their cult days, thank you very much. They'd rather live a life where they weren't being alienated from everyone around them, something they'd only got after rejoining the Badlands. Not joining, no, because that had ended up with them chained to a wall in a warehouse. It was only after they went and chased down the asshole that had both imprisoned and released them, realized what a huge fucking mistake that was, and gone back to the Badlands that they felt... what was it? Belonging? Almost.
"I know what scrabble is." They said flatly. It was a game they'd played with Molly when they were little, then again with Derick when they were less little. And now, again, with Olga. Their adversaries just kept getting older, huh? They took the letters and looked them over, studied the board, eventually placing some down. Building off of the D, they added an A, R, and K. Was that playing into a stereotype of themself? Yeah, probably, but what fucking ever. "Double word score." Ha. After getting new letters to replace the ones they'd used, they sat back and looked over at the new challengers. Salem being Salem and Addy being Addy. Excellent. Oh, you know what? The second in command did have an incredibly good point - what the fuck was that? [align=center][div style="width: 390px; text-align: justify;"]was it surprising that jaque had no clue what scrabble was? no. he hasn’t been allowed to play board games, all because his father figured something along the lines of ‘if an ouija board can contact the dead, then obviously all of the board games were satanic and must be banned’. yeah, his father wasn’t exactly.. smart to say the least. he was intrigued, however, so he sort of just watched from afar as they started their game. was he going to join? not a chance, he didn’t want to make a fool of himself, he didn’t know how to read..
so, he eventually made his way over, twiddling his thumbs and looking to olga. she seemed ok, but catalyst was kind of scary and addy was pretty damn intimidating. “can i.. watch?” he asked softly, shifting from foot to foot. he didn’t want to just intrude without asking for permission first, but if he was turned away, he would gladly just go to the beach and lay in the sand, stare up at the seemingly endless sky.. hat was another thing he was intrigued by, but it was also a story for another day. i can’t write more then two paragraphs to save my life sorry [align=center]dead or inactive characters of @cosoleum / @cosmyn

— a russian cultural dish. he eyes the bananas with a slightly disgusted look pulled on his face. “thank fuckin’ god i’m not russian.” guess that meant that olga got away with the failed dish - at least when it came to describing it to addy. the redhead didn’t tend to question most people’s motives - and really could give less of a shit about whatever that banana dish was. just. fuck he needed to stop looking at it. the redhead turned his gaze away and instead to the board, deciding then that it would be his turn to play something. lips turned down slightly as he glanced between the board and his letters. and the redhead was genuinely stuck. he knew how to spell the most basic of words, he wasn’t that fucking dumb… but this game was not going to make him feel like an idiot, he swore to god. going off of the r, he carefully placed an i, c, and e. he was sure there were better words out of his pick, but to be honest he had no idea what exactly was going on. “okay, what did i just do? how many points?” yet the stubborn bastard was still being competitive over a game he didn’t even know how to play. he wasn’t going to sit there and look bad in front of olga, someone he barely knew, and catalyst - someone he felt like he knew too much about… including the rather shady past he tried to ignore.. // me: seeing other words that would've worked so much better than 'rice' also me: sadly picks 'rice'

Wow, russian food must taste like crap normally; Salem hadn't the faintest idea that Olga was making all of it up, mainly because he never paid attention in school and his family wasn't Russian. He was pretty sure he was like- a mix of like, italian and spanish? Probably some other European bloodlines mixed in there too. He should've paid more attention when his mother told him about his ancestors.
"Don't be fucking rude, Addy." Salem said, reaching over to grab the soggy yet somehow burnt banana-esq chip thing. Yeah he had no idea what Olga was going for when she made these, but he happily tossed one in his mouth and immediately wished he hadn't. He coughed with his mouth still sealed shut once, twice, and then swallowed the disgusting mush. Feeling vaguely sick, he gave a thumbs-up to Olga. "Yeah sure, can you grab me something from the bar?" Salem said, glancing at Jaque. If he wanted to watch and not participate he could at least make himself useful, and frankly Salem needed something to wash the taste of Olga's attempted hospitality down. He went off the P of Pend and put down an I and E. It was pretty bad, but Salem was still feeling the aftershocks of the banana chip and he'd stick by that story for the rest of the day.
