⸺ mostly just goes by ollie but doesn't have a problem with oleander.
⸺ his age range is about seventeen to twenty-five, generally flexible.
⸺ dfab pangender. they prefer masculine or neutral pronouns but often appear more feminine—he doesn't think pronouns are important and will go by anything. he's grey-(pan)sexual and aroflux, not really interested in relationships as she has a very fucked up view on what "love" is because of the continual abuse throughout his childhood.
⸺ oleander was born and raised in yorkshire, england in the town of leeds to tatton and whitney fleurette—they were the first and only child.
⸺ they grew up with a violently abusive father and a mother who left him when he was still a toddler, they hold a lot of resentment towards the traditional family structure. ollie has very few positive memories from their childhood, most seem to center around a constant fear of whether they were going to be beat to death during the night or if they would get to live to see the light of day. it wasn't unusual for their father to take objects and just beat ollie with them until they had been knocked unconscious; they rarely ever went to the hospital for their injuries unless one of the neighbors was kind enough to take them to a free clinic that couldn't do much.
⸺ diagnosed with intermittent explosive disorder ( ied ) but have been showing signs of possible anti-social personality disorder ( aspd ) for most of their childhood but have yet to be clinically diagnosed; however, it's highly likely that they do have it because of how they perceive themselves within society and how they act.
⸺ ollie is a downright mean and cruel person, often coming across as a bully with how blunt and violent they can be with other people. they are an emotionally stunted person who does not know how to handle social situations in a positive manner, often finding a sick kind of enjoyment in riling people up because the only real emotions they can understand and feel is anger, rage, and contempt. outside of those emotions, though? numbness, indifference, apathy. they don't know how to read people, don't understand social cues and have taken it upon themselves to simply give up and don't really care enough to learn how to fit into what society expects of them. they are a product of their environment and are now only trying to cope in the one way that they know how—not to excuse their actions, of course, they simply see everyone around them as factors of their own abuse and feel entitled to their anger.
⸺ becomes very aggressive and even violent towards people who try to take a parental role in their life, especially those that try to act as a motherly figure because of how they view their relationship with their own mother. they also really hate people who expect pity? ollie once tried to reach out, tried to gather pity, and got nothing in return so they now do the same to others—if you want oleander to feel bad for you or your situation? too bad, they don't fucking care.
⸺ ollie stands at about five foot nine inches and they absolutely [i]love being tall, now they can look down on everyone they hate... especially when they're wearing heels.
⸺ he has heterochromic ( complete ) eyes with the right being blue and the left being green. she is slightly cross-eyed because of an incident with their father and a baseball bat and is usually seen wearing thick rimmed glasses ( a little because of the aesthetic and also because without them they have a difficult time with depth perception ). they consider their eyes to be their greatest asset and aren't afraid to show them off.
⸺ punk goth. he isn't super into fashion but he likes to dabble here and again, their tastes tend to fall into the typical goth, punk, emo or grunge aesthetic but with their own personal touch that is just... ollie. they love fishnets and plaid and aren't afraid to mix up some typical goth attire, although, they do enjoy keeping their clothes darker and probably don't wear anything brighter than red because it just doesn't appeal to them?
⸺ her hair is naturally a jet black but has, since then, been dyed white or silver for the longest time because they like it like that and they don't feel like they have to explain anything to anyone. they take extremely good care of their hair and despite the bleaching and other things ollie has done to it, it still remains in fairly good condition and—along with their eyes—is probably something ollie takes pride in when it comes to their appearance. also, it's important to note that ollie keeps his hair cut short with their style of choice being a bob or anything else shorter as they really, really hate having to deal with long hair.
⸺ forked tongue, baby! ollie loves the body modification culture and has, over time, done his best to try and become more involved in the community. they have recently forked their tongue and plan on having another procedure to make their ears more elf-like because why the fuck not? he's also always wanted to sharpen his canines, make them into something more like fangs.
⸺ she loves, loves, loves tattoos and despite their young age has probably already gotten a sleeve and an abundance of various other tattoos; of course, not all of them are completely legal but hey, you win some you lose some. unlike a lot of people, ollie isn't afraid of the stigma around tattoos and probably has a few tasteful facial tattoos because it worked well with how she wanted herself to appear to others and, fuck, if ollie has any aspirations one could make the assumption that they might go into the tattooing business because of how much they love it.
⸺ they've done some hard drugs but mostly stick to prescription or club drugs, they don't like how fucked out they get on stuff like cocaine or heroin ( probably tried meth once and then never again ). they also aren't a big fan of hallucinogens but if they do take them they'd prefer shrooms over other types; she won't ever take lsd because they watched an old friend overdose and die in front of them and they're... lowkey traumatized. they think smoking weed is fine but if you talk about it they're gonna beat the shit out of you. he has an issue, to a degree, and most of the time they take drugs in order to suppress their ied and other mental health issues instead of taking their medication.
⸺ ollie spent a little over two years in a juvenile correctional facility for assault when they were about fourteen to fifteen years old. they got into a fight with another kid from school and beat him so bad that he had to be hospitalized, their young age got them out of a long sentence and complete damage to their permanent record. they attended an intensive therapy session that helped with their diagnoses of ied—being in that facility was probably the only time they've ever been medicated for their disorder because outside of that regulation they refuse to take their medication. they get really aggressive with anyone who tries to bring it up because they just... they don't like how it makes them feel so they decided they didn't want to take it. yeah, they know it's not the best decision but they don't really care.
⸺ you've got people who fake being hard and then you have ollie who has seen the shittiest parts of society and thrives there because they can understand it. they get it. they have long since fallen into the wrong crowd and have witnessed the deaths ( intentional and accidental alike ) of various people throughout their time living with their father and their time living on the streets. they've only dated one person ( a girl named Nightly ) and she was the friend ollie saw overdose on lsd but she really isn't the only person. ollie was stuck in the middle of a group during a drive-by, probably has had genuine death threats, has been in a lot of fucking knife fights, has had multiple people hold a gun to their head, and has gotten themselves involved in so many bad situations he himself probably doesn't know how he's still alive.
⸺ their favorite type of music is reggae rock but they're partial to all types of rock ( punk, pop, hard, blues, classic, etc. ) along with all types of metal/heavy metal. they don't really mind rap but it's not really their favorite, however, they despise mainstream pop music and can't really get behind why anyone loves it. it just sounds like the same song over and over again, it honestly irritates the shit out of them.
⸺ they love philosophy? it's a weird interest of his but he's not ashamed of it, especially when he relates to a lot of the pain and isolation many people talk about when they're expressing their views on life. ollie may have come from a shit background and they might have some flaws but understand that they're a highly intelligent individual. school was the only place they were free from the abuse of their home life and they took it very seriously. so while they have some clear problems ( drug, anger, mental health ) in their life, they are technically considered a top student, even with their time in the juvenile detention center they never allowed their grades to slip and could probably get a full ride scholarship to any school they wanted to if they tried hard enough.
⸺ they were taken out of their home and put into the foster care system when they turned sixteen, however, after being constantly moved around they decided to bounce and now live on their own in a shitty apartment. they're a hard working kid, he knows what he has to do to survive and he's going to do it and even at only seventeen ( variant ) years old they can manager to take care of themselves in a world that doesn't really seem to like them.

⸺ charles "charlie" edmund farkeep
⸺ charlie is permanently frozen at age twenty-seven but is nearing almost two hundred years at exactly one hundred and ninety-one years old.
⸺ dmab cisgender. he prefers to go by masculine pronouns but, with the changing times, doesn't mind what people call him as he's comfortable with his gender and doesn't see anything wrong with neutral pronouns. charlie is biromantic bisexual and really doesn't have a preference when it comes to who he is sexually or romantically attracted to; he's had various partners over the years both masculine and feminine alike. he's your resident bicon.
⸺ he was born in alicante, idris ( the shadowhunter homeland ) in 1826 before his family was banished from idris in 1834 ( aged eight ) and took up residence within various institutions in central europe. it wasn't until 1838 when the farkeeps were invited to join the victorian family in the london institution that they became permanent fixtures in the shadowworld once again despite their damaged reputation with the clave.
⸺ the oldest of three children, charlie is the only surviving farkeep in existence and the only heir to the family, although, that's not saying much as the farkeeps are not a family often held in high regard. his sisters ( catherine and genevieve ), his brother ( eugene ), and parents ( william and esther ) were slaughtered in what would later be reveled as a hit put out by the clave, taken up by the london vampire clan.
⸺ he honestly has no idea why his family was banished and it's not like he can go and ask them, especially not after everything he's done and how many shadowhunters view him as a traitor to his own kind because of andy. the farkeeps were a very influential family and it's thought that after a change of power within the council a political disagreement caused a backlash and charlie's family was political exiled for their beliefs. again, it is unknown but this is as close to an answer as charlie will probably ever get.
⸺ charlie's parabatai is a boy named andrew "andy" victorian ( paired in 1844, aged eighteen ). andy is his best friend, his ride or die, his brother, his family, and the only person charlie has left—andrew means the world to him and despite everything their bond has put them through, charlie would never let andy fight this battle on his own. they've been friends since they were twelve and eleven ( respectfully ) years old and charlie doesn't think there will ever come a time when they won't be.
⸺ he is a [i]giant, like, if you think i'm joking you have to understand that charlie is six foot five inches and towers over basically anyone he meets. he's lean and powerful and overall a very imposing figure, however, his bow legs and lopsided smile make it difficult to take him seriously in most situations; that along with the fact he hits his head on anything and everything. don't let him fool you though, he looks goofy but he has near two hundred years of battle training under his belt and can be a threat when he wants to be.
⸺ his eyes are an incredibly light ( vibrant ) shade of green, a green that is often mistaken for turquoise by how it appears blue in the right lighting. they very clearly show his nephilim heritage by how unnatural they appear to the human eye and, well, honestly outside of his smile they're one of his biggest puppy features. his hair appears black but is actually an extremely dark shade of brown but hey, what's the point in getting technical?
⸺ sarcastic, witty, humorous—key components to explaining charlie's personality are those three words right there. he's just an extremely laid back and fun person who has learned that constantly worrying and taking things seriously takes all enjoyment out of life. he understands that the situation he is in is dangerous but he's spent so much time letting it consume him that he's determined to sit back and take the world as it comes because living on the edge is hard enough without feeling like he's constantly drowning. now, though? now he's going to keep his spirits up and make shitty quips about everything and just be... happy or, well, as close to it as he can be.
⸺ he's a dork who sometimes forgets he's in the twenty-first century and still acts like it's the nineteenth century because, dammit, nothing makes sense anymore. he really doesn't understand technology but isn't terrible with it? he just prefers to write or to read physical books rather than have it at his disposal—however, if he needs to he can figure it out because he's a fairly fast learner? he was here when they invented the first computer so, like, you know.
⸺ charlie's laugh is booming, it's loud and unapologetic and overall just very genuine and a lot of the times it's hard not to laugh with him. he's just... i don't know how to explain him, he's just someone you can look at and find solace in even if sometimes he can be a little bit idiotic or come off as a little aggressive when in a painful mood.
⸺ charlie is constantly haunted by the fact that he was the only member of his family to survive the initial assassination of his family ( i.e. survivor's guilt ). he doesn't like to talk about his family very much and will often shut down if they are brought up, he's moved past the depression that rendered him almost catatonic but he is still struggling to move past what happened. he's a very carefree person and someone who won't hesitate to sit back and breath but there are times ( flashbacks, memories, etc. ) hit him and he comes off a little more aggressive than he means to/really is.
⸺ for a really long time charlie had a deep hatred of vampires but, after meeting alaster, he came to the realization that it wasn't the downworlder's fault for what happened. he has more hatred towards his own kind than he does for downworlders and finds that, well, it's the ones that the clave labels inhuman that can be more human than the children of the angels are. he's very distrustful of his own kind and if he's given a reason he won't hesitate to throw the first punch.
⸺ he's ninety-five percent leg, like, i explained earlier that he's really tall but a mass majority of his body is just leg and he loves making jokes about it because it's hilarious. there are times when he just has to awkwardly bend his knees because he's not able to stand up completely straight in a room and it's a little embarrassing but charlie takes it all in good fun.
⸺ charles is full of sarcasm and he usually uses it for good but, when he needs it, he can come off as both deadly and sarcastic and it's literally a superpower don't ask him how he does it he doesn't know.
⸺ the secret badass in every horror movie, ever.
⸺ he's fluent in latin, spanish, english and french because it was important for his family to quickly adapt to the country they were staying in for long periods of time because it made everything a lot easier to transition. obviously, latin is an important language to learn when one basically uses it on a day to day basis and he fucking loves just going off at people in latin because it's not like they could ever figure out what the hell he's even saying.
⸺ charlie has two ancient seraph blades, ones that have been passed down in the farkeep family for as long as anyone can remember—possibly since the beginning of their species in general. his favorite is a blade named zaphkiel, one that his father fought with until his dying breath; the blade gives him some connection with his family and he has never gone into any battle without it. the second blade is worn and falling apart but it's one he cannot part with, it's name is barachiel and it's more of a family heirloom than an actual weapon but it still serves its purpose.
