[align=left][justify][size=8pt]Outward Perception — Initially, Hayes' appearance can be rather misleading. Outwardly, there is no mistaking that he is a rather attractive being, and this causes many to assume that his personality will match the charm of his visage. After limited introduction however, it becomes clear that this is not the case and that Hayes is a passive, skeptical young man. Now this, of course, is true to his character. One might perceive him simply as a surly being though, and that would be where they are once again mistaken by him. In actuality, Hayes' behavior—from the way that he watches passerby's with calculating eyes, to the crossing of his arms in indignation when somebody behaves in a suspicious manner—is more than just exclusive dislike for anyone that crosses his path, it is his way of scrutinizing a situation as it presents itself. As a matter of fact, Hayes has become quite accustomed to running over any possible diverging circumstances that could come about at any moment, and what he could do as the best possible response should they arise. Of course, it could be hard to see this clockwork manner of his intelligence when it's mistaken for rudimentary distrust.

Deeper Understanding — Once someone accustoms themselves to Hayes presence, and he to theirs, more characterized snippets of his personality start to show through the pores of his outward persona. Though regal, he begins to speak more around people he is used to seeing often, and it becomes clear that he bites back against any trespasses against himself or his close relationships. As a matter of fact, Hayes has a rather venomous tongue, and can string words together in a retort almost as harmful as his skills with a knife. Still, he must be prompted before he strikes. This is a form of self preservation that he has mastered from years on the run, but as he settles down somewhere for the first time since his childhood, Hayes will be surprised to find it transforming into a sort of loyalty. Having always been wary of getting attached to someone, especially since said person could become a weakness of his, Hayes has always been very closed off to everyone. However, by staying in one place for so long, he accidentally grows close to a few around him. Because of this, he will start to put their wellbeing above his own. Even so, Hayes' nature will always stay rather guarded, as this is the way be was told to be all throughout his childhood. One might notice how his fists clench at his sides, or the way that his jawbone sharpens in tension, and these behaviors betray a part of his persona and history that he wishes to conceal. Violence has always been a companion to Hayes throughout his life, and he cannot remember a time before it. His father and his mother were always quick to use it, and therefore raised their children in a similar manner. As a result, Hayes buries aggression within his frame, and is very quick to temper. He has become quite good at hiding this violence physically, but he still fears the occasional breaking of composure that occurs every so often.
