The wind in her hair and the sand under her feet gave her peace as she danced on the beach, giggling and singing. It reminded her of the time she was with an all-girls band, where she fell in love with a rich man who owned an oil rig. He collected shells when he came to shore, and she sang and performed for him if he came for dinner. Marian smiled shyly as she adjusted her dress strap and picked up the ends, pulling them up above her calves as the ocean water splashed against her shins. She laughed as the water withdrew and picked up a pretty shell.

"Oh, you're so pretty!" Marian hummed, tracing her thumb against the sulcus, turning it over to see the pearl-like inside.

She smiled and placed the shell back on the sand and backed away, picking up her gloves she had placed on a blanket nearby. She used the blanket to pat down her legs and sat back down, flattening her dress' wrinkles over her lap as she pulled her basket towards her and dug for her shot glass and the whiskey she had taken from their most recent raid. Marian poured herself a glass and enjoyed the sun setting.

Maybe greet wasn't the right term...she usually was quite gruff with them until she found out what their business here was. With this woman, she shouldn't have been any different. However, upon seeing Marian dance around in the waves and admire the shells on the shore, Salem felt something she hadn't felt in a long, long time. She was begrudgingly attracted to this woman, but hell, she didn't even know who she was! Salem decided to buck up and assert her dominance over the territory. However, she could feel her confidence begin to ebb away as she approached Marian, who was delicately perched on a blanket on the shore. Instead of asking her usual probing questions, Salem simply forced out a barely audible "hello?" while she loomed over Marian.

Marian was a few shots into her bottle when she heard Salem's voice. The blonde whipped around, shock on her face, before she relaxed and the hand that had come to rest on her chest went back to her lap. "Hi there," the woman spoke, nearly breathless. "Didn't see you coming, I'm sorry." She her basket to her side and put her bottle and glass away.

Marian smoothed out her blanket and scotched over, patting the blanket as an invite. The sun was reaching the water, casting a lovely orange glow across the sky, the water reflecting pinks and blues as the world turned in for the night. She was sure the sun must be rising somewhere in the world, about to give them a brand new, lovely day. she reached up to adjust her dress, fixing the slipping straps and she smoothed down the fabric once more, then folded her hands in her lap.

"Pardon me if I am in your territory, I was just having a drink and watching the sun go down. Such a pretty sight, don't you think? Oh, I would love to sit here for hours and watch such a wonderful moment. I never got to see much of this back home." She lamented, her eyes holding a longing stare as she watched the sun begin to disappear into the water. "When I was a little girl, my daddy told me that the sun goes into the ocean. Silly old me used to believe that! It was something magical. Oh, I'm sorry- my name is Marian." She smiled up at Salem.

She seemed almost too pure to be wandering near Badlands, but behind those vibrant blue eyes, a stark contrast was held. She would not hesitate to stab if the threat arises, and as she fixed her shoulder strap once more, while cursing it of course, she made sure her switch blade was still near by for her to grab.

Salem liked Marian, her smooth demeanor calmed her. In fact, it calmed her so much that she still didn't realize she was technically an intruder. She sat down next to Marian, making sure to keep a few inches away from touching, and stared out into the sea.
"My parents used to tell me about the beaches where they grew up. They were loud, apparently, and people would play music from these boxes..." Salem shook her head with a smile. The sky was becoming more orange, casting the two in shadows. "Oh--if you wanted, you could sit here and watch the sunset for hours. I mean, if you joined. Our group. It's called the badlands." Salem fumbled over her words, only worsening when she turned towards Marian and found her features were highlighted by the sunset. "You don't have to, but we love joiners. I mean...we like 'em, we apprecia--you know what I mean."

Marian sighed, crossing her hands over her knees as she watched the waves crash on the shore. She smiled when Salem spoke about beaches. She heard about them, listened to them be sung by songs. Faintly, she wondered what it was like. Salem began sputtering, and Marian glanced at the woman and smiled a little, the corner of her mouth lifting. A small dimple pressed into her cheek.

"That sounds lovely," she spoke, turning her attention to the sun as its final rays disappeared behind the vast ocean. "Especially if it means getting to see such beautiful sights."

Marian turned her attention to Salem and winked, then stood up and brushed her dress off, picking up her basket and hearing her whiskey and glass clink together. She adjusted her dress, fixing the shoulder that slipped down yet again, and adjusting her gloves, smoothing out any wrinkles on the cloth. From there, the woman dipped her head.

"I'd love to join!" She grinned wide.

She simply nodded, her eyes still peeking above her fingertips, refusing to leave the woman.
"I'm probably not in the position to accept you but...that does sound good. Be warned though, this place is a little rough around the edges."As she spoke, though, she noticed the whiskey glass in Marian's basket. Salem bit her tongue, wishing she could take her words back.

It’d taken a while to drag him away from a conversation with a group of other Badlanders to tell him that a newcomer had arrived. But, no sooner than that, Teddy strolled over as he carefully sucked on a cigarette. ❝ Looks like the welcoming committee has already given you the warm welcome we like t’see. ❞ Teddy pointed out, flitting his gaze towards Salem with a small twitch at the corner of his lips before looking back towards the newcomer. ❝ So, I heard you were interested in joining.
