"speech" 'thought' text

Meetings, he hated them, hated giving them, hated attending them... meetings were ridiculous. The dark haired man stood in the back, arms crossed over his chest as he watched Teddy's movements. He disliked the man, reminded him a bit of another guy he'd come across, and well... he couldn't say he was too fond.

Mike felt stuck here, part of the agreement for the peaceful transfer of power was for him to remain here, and that wasn't something he wanted to do, especially now. But he was a man of his word, and until he could find a way to get out of it, he was going to stay here. He sighed deeply and leaned back quietly, glowering at everyone and no one.

MICHAEL FORD
Michael Ford is a 45 year old, man, he's stubbornly loyal to whatever cause he chooses, protective of his family and friends, he's a member of the Badlands. Michael has issues controlling his anger in most situations. He is a difficult opponent and well trained, feel free to power play nonviolent interactions though.

Let’s just get started. ❞ He relished the power that this sense of authority gave him. The power to command the room with his presence. Unlike his brother, Teddy tended to appear somewhat unassuming. No tattoos etched across his skin, no brawny, broad-shouldered physique, and no cold and aloof nature. He was the natural showman, a people-pleaser and a man who wished to enjoy the finer things in life. No person would expect just how merciless an unassuming man could be.

❝ First, I’d like to welcome Kipp ‘n’ Lucky to the Badlands. You’ll get used to our way of life pretty fast — that ain’t an assurance, but an order. ❞ He searched into the crowd before a facetious grin tugged at the corners of his lips. ❝ You’re both just Prospectives for now; you gotta earn your place here, prove your loyalty to the enterprise, prove your loyalty to the Administration… Prove your loyalty to me. ❞ Brows raised as Teddy contemplated what task he’d issue the two newcomers. After a short hum and a few seconds of silence, he finally stated bluntly, ❝ Bring me a man’s hand. Left or right, I don't care which. Then we can talk about the induction ceremony. ❞

And, as quickly as his words had become so ominous, he returned to the usual, spritely manner. ❝ So, it was Micah and Juliette’s wedding last weekend. Real good times. I know I had fun. ❞ When a party was involved, of course Teddy would have a good time. He enjoyed the limelight, cherishing the attention he’d receive from others throughout the night.

It didn’t take long for Teddy to turn the attention away from the newly married couple and back onto himself. ❝ We also managed to attract a small clientele. I was chattin’ to a few of ‘em and they’re keen to come back for more. That’s what we like to hear, hey? So, I’d say we get our asses into gear and really give ‘em a reason to stick around. We got a finite amount of drugs and liquor and that’s no good. I want a group to go out and get me a good supply. Scavenge, raid — fuck, steal it outta peoples’ pockets if you gotta. I just want ‘em here for the next party. It’s how we’ll win them over. ❞

❝ Next, we wanna promote a few of you in the next few weeks. Requirements are that you gotta be a reliable presence around here, and we gotta trust you enough to not screw things up for us. That ain’t too much to ask for. ❞

With no further announcements, Teddy cracked a smile before he said, ❝ You’re all dismissed. ❞

[align=center][div style="width: 400px; text-align: justify; line-height: 15px;"][font=calibri]This is so strange... attending a Badlands meeting as a nobody. He sees Michael from afar, but doesn't move a muscle. Doesn't say a word. In fact, he keeps a wide-brim hat on his head, tilting it downward so that dark shadows are cast over his facial features. He knew that there was a chance of someone here recognizing him, so he made sure to keep as low of a profile as possible. However, doing so was nearly impossible when he was acknowledged as a "prospective" member.

There goes one of the new Badlands leaders, blabbering on about loyalty and earning his place. Lucky eyes Teddy under the shade of his hat, brown hues glaring up at the rather cocky man. A sensation of bitterness and frustration bubbles within him, knowing that he is damn well the reason why this kid has this pedestal in the first place... the reason why the Badlands even ended up in this beachside paradise... why the Badlands even made it this far after Tatiana's death. Lucky had turned the Badlands from a ragtag street gang into a cutthroat, criminal organization and to be treated like some sort of lowly pawn in this bastard's game made his jaw clench.

Part of him wanted to lift his head and make a snide comment towards the younger man, but he knew that he couldn't. He was the one who had avoided this place for so long. He was the one who abandoned his crew without a trace. Even if some of these people had once sworn their loyalty to him, they now served a different boss. Lucky was nothing to this group now.

He acknowledged Teddy's words but said nothing. An induction ceremony, hm? It looks like they kept that around. Lucky wonders what other things he implemented under his leadership was now being handled by these clowns. Good lord. Was it even worth it at this point to do the bidding of the Administration? Maybe he ought to just duck out and leave. He knew now that Kit wasn't here, so why was he staying?

// ic opinions ofc! he's a bitter bastard

It was one of the most rewarding pleasures for a man like Teddy to stand on a stage and be listened to by many. Eyes all staring up at him in awe, as if they admired and feared him all the same. A smug smile crept onto his lips as he stood up onto the stage with his brother and sister-in-law, eyes meeting with those in the crowd. ❝ Good of ya to be here early. ❞ He looked down at his watch, the rickety band ticking rigidly. ❝ We’ll give ‘em a few more minutes before we’ll start the meeting, yeah? ❞
