cooking night at Penny's // open
#1
Finding food was hard, especially food that one could make but luckily Penny knew how to make a lot of things from scratch - pasta included. And so, Penny invited those of her new group to her house for a cooking night. So she stood in her kitchen, a half apron on and a glass of wine not far from reach. There had been a specific time for the first sip, but that had recently passed and thus the bottle was also on the counter for anyone who needed to refill.

With and wooden spoon, she had been string the sauce she had been explaining on making. God, if her mother saw her now, or Nonna, she looked like a damn housewife. "Anyone want to try it?" she offered, pausing the string motion to look at her guests. Yes, as if she'd feed the sauce to those who said yes, well, that wasn't completely wrong she supposed depending on who said yes but, it wasn't likely.

"Also if I can get anyone something, do let me know. Nonna would be livid if I wasn't a good hostess" she joked, though it was true. Both of them would be disappointed actually, but even more so the Nonna she shared with her half-brothers. "I can make pasta from scratch too, but I already made the ones for tonight since that's more of a...longer project." she explained with a shrug, as if it wasn't that impressive or interesting.

He would have left that title to the women in his family, the women whose meals left him with more than enough sentiment towards a whole host of special dishes. Like his mama’s barbeque shrimps or his auntie’s red beans and rice - a world which he so desperately wanted to incorporate into this new life of his. When he heard that Penny was hosting a dinner at her home, Teddy barely hesitated before choosing to show his face. After all, he could do with some schmoozing around his new world, curious to see how cuisine could be brought into the life of the Badlands.

Upon arriving early in the evening, he was quick to join in with a glass of wine, leaning against the kitchen counter with a smug smile as he joked and teased those who’d all turned up - all in typical Theodore jest. When Penny offered a taste of her cooking, Teddy lifted his head with an inquisitive hum. ❝ Go for it. ❞ He beckoned her closer with his pointer finger, having a taste from the spoon. Gah. Ya know, you couldn’t have done that sauce any better, if I say so myself. ❞ He hummed as he leaned back once again. A compliment which sounded so effortless, yet so meaningful all the same. Teddy always had a way with words; Casual, yet enticing. It was what helped him climb to the top, after all.

Of course Teddy would take her offer. She got a small amount on the spoon, feeding it to him when indicated closer. Though his reaction made her smile "Glad to know the family recipe lives on well" she replied, putting the spoon back into the pot and stiring more to keep the sauce from burning. "Though I think the only secret about it is to look like a housewife" she joked with a grin, she had tried to make it before with it not coming out as well. But now it had, the only real difference that she could recall would be the apron around her waist, attire. She looked like a housewife, a mom. Well, that would make sense she supposed since her brother's nonna and mother had been the ones to teach her.

She then removed the flame she had managed to get to cook the sauce, the pot next to it was the pasta, already cooked and just awaiting for Penny to merge the two together. "Food's ready!" she called, placing two serving type spoons into the two pots. She then got stacks of plates and placed them down along with forks. Of course, she was used to having many people over so this was all just second nature to her.

So, stepping back and out of the way, she removed the apron around her waist and hung it up before moving out of the way for everyone to get something to eat. instead, she got herself some wine and stood out of the way. She'd get something to eat once everyone else had.
