☁  in general, throughout her life, hayley has followed the basic innocence rule. you were innocent until proven guilty, most of the time; however, if you stated you were innocent before being accused of being guilty, odds were you were guilty.

she'd never be one to turn away someone needing help. even when gray and brendan had wanted to leave sheo for dead, the man who'd killed lodgers and tried to burn the place down, she'd put her foot down and demanded they take him in. granted, as soon as he was conscious he'd been sent on his merry way down the mountain, but still, she would never leave someone out to die, even against the protest of those around her, against her best instincts as a mother. she'd taken enough lives in her day to feel too terrible to let anyone just die. she intended to raise hope in a world where there was some decency, some willingness to help those around her.

brendan had already, more or less, asked for the younger woman's name by the time hayley approached, and the head shrugged her outermost coat off as she got closer, offering it to the red head. it was the dead of winter at the top of a mountain, and it was a miracle if the girl had gotten this far without frostbite, not to mention with her blood loss. ❝we'll help you,❞ she said after brendan, glancing between the two. ❝but we will have to take your weapons, just for a bit. we've got kids up there.❞ she said, hazel eyes searching the teenagers features for some bit of understanding as to the reasoning; she was armed, and they had to be careful.

Blake Kegan - a poly pan nineteen-year-old who identifies as genderflux and uses she/they pronouns. it should also be stated that she drinks (not addictively) and smokes. she's very flirty and tends to not have serious relationships. she usually carries two katanas and a rather large knife as weapons. other than flirty, personality wise she's both childish and mature as well as maturnal, sort of taking in those younger than her and who let her, treating them as her children (regardless of age difference).

She had been warmer, until she was betrayed and the group took their stuff back. Which left her with just what she wore now as she was approached but a younger kid. He seemed...not too fond of the fact she was there, in a way. She didn't blame him, strangers could suck. He asked her name, one question she was used to answering as she had been with a few groups in means of survival. None ending well, but it had kept her alive so far.

"I'm Blake." She replied, pushing ginger hair from her face as someone else appeared. A woman. She watched the newly arrived stranger come towards her, offering a jacket much warmer than her own. Blake nodded in thanks and quickly put the coat on, grateful for the warmer layer. Listening to the woman talk, hearing they'd help them, but they'd take her weapons? Okay. Yeah. There's kids here, that was reasonable. How could the maternal teen argue with that?

They nodded and reached down, taking the two katanas from where they hung as well as the knife she hid in her boot (just in case). Blake held them out to Hayley "Yeah...Yeah that's completely fine. Here. Feel free to search me, all I got otherwise is a lighter and like four cigs." she didn't really have much with her, obviously. Just what she managed to throw into the backpack and bolt.

She looked around curiously, was this a group of some sort? Like, a town sized group or something? Only groups she had been with were about five or four other people, nothing too big. Surely, if this was all theirs, this would be a big group. Huh. How many of them were kids? they had said kids, right? pural? huh. If she managed to be able to stay long enough, maybe she could help out with that. She was fine with helping, so long as they trusted her. Was blake a suck up? maybe a little at first, but she was mostly a flirt and that definitely wouldn't change. But right now? She just wanted to get warm and should probably have her...cut looked at. It would just become a new scar, a new piece of her less than blank canvas.

JUST STANDING WAITING FOR THE PUNCHES
Tomorrow liked the cold; it was crisp and cleared his head when nothing else would. But the cold was merciless, and it'd taken plenty of lives. Claire's first litter, excluding Jeremiah, had all been claimed by the frost; it'd been a stressful night, and ultimately he'd failed to keep them warm and safe. He couldn't blame anybody except himself for that.

So, yeah, even though he innately enjoyed the cold it did bring up memories of that failure on occasion. In fact that's what he'd been thinking about as he walked Claire and Jeremiah, as well as two other dogs belonging to the Lodge; Claire and Jeremiah were off leash, while he had to keep the leashes of the Lodge dogs tight around his knuckles for fear of them bolting off into the snow.

He heard speaking before he saw people, and his dogs started nosing towards the group made up of Brendan and Hayley - two familiar figures to Tomorrow - as well as a stranger who introduced herself as Blake.

"Heel." Tomorrow commanded quietly to the dogs, and while his own dogs listened the Lodge dogs ignored him and proceeded to drag him closer to the group to sniff curiously at Blake. "Sorry, I'm still working on their manners." Tomorrow said softly, pulling the dogs back.

"We should get her inside and look at that cut." Tomorrow said, glancing at Hayley for affirmation.

☁  she proved to be willing, and just the fact that she handed them over brought some ease to hayley. while it was entirely plausible that there were other weapons hidden on her body, a knife and a katana were entirely different levels of danger. she took the weaponry, holding them a little awkwardly, not exactly sure as to how one was supposed to hold a weapon like that. she opted for just holding one hand near each end, like she did her shotgun, and offered blake a polite smile that said thanks for understanding.

❝yeah,❞ she said at tomorrows words, nodding uphill to the silhouette of the lodge in the snowy distance, ❝c'mon, i can take a look at it if you want. i'm not much of a doctor, but i'm pretty good with basic wounds. and delivering kids.❞ she'd only delivered her own, but, call her cocky, she was suddenly confident in her abilities to handle any woman giving birth. they needed someone with real medical training, but she knew what to do in an emergency. ❝i'm hayley, by the way. welcome to the flintlock lodge.❞ she told the younger woman with a nod, turning and heading towards the lodge, hoping the others would follow suit.

A strange place, not recognizing anything. She pulled on her jean jacket, all that she wore to fight the cold. A backpack holding mostly clothes she stole and some other crap she snagged, her katanas hanging from her waist on either side, her knife hidden in her boot. She had to find somewhere to rest, hopefully somewhere warm. Her last group abandoned her, lucky for her that she keeps all her stuff near her. However they did try to steal her weapons, causing a fight, causing her to get cut, she also was pretty sure one of her sides got cut but she was too cold to be able to tell. It could just be the cold.

She noticed ahead that there was...something there. Lights on? Maybe. Either way it wasn't out here, meaning it was warm. Blake dared to move her hand to feel her sides, upon checking the left side she felt cold liquid on her jacket "You have got to be kidding me" she muttered, wiping her hand on her jeans before returning it to where ever she had been attempting to keeping her hands warm.

Anywhere would do. It was just cold. Well, actually, she was close to just giving into this cold. Who would have thought it'd be the cold that would kill her. Well, this was her being dramatic. C'mon Blakie, there's def people here. Get their attention, it may not go well, but it's the best chance you got. She was definitely not dressed for the weather, so there was no ball in her court of survival other than trying with the locals. Hopefully they won't try to kill her.

"Hello? It's real fucking cold out here." she called out, sounding a bit stupid to herself, shouting out in the night like she was. "I'm visibly armed other than a knife in my boot. I swear I'm not a threat. Just cold and I think bleeding." smart Blake. Now they may kill you, after taking your only means of self defense. Ah, well. Too late now.
