like there's 0 math involved you just type in what they gave you and it tells you how much change to give them. biggest bills to smallest when you're counting. (total is 13.76 and they gave you a 20, you type in the 20 and it'll be like "yo bitch give 'em 6.24" it's great i love computers for dummies)

if my dumbass with dyscalculia can math up at a cash register i have 100% faith in you. like they said, the register does all the math for you and if you have to do it? it's literally simple subtraction and addition that becomes quick and you'll learn how to count money without even having to stop to think. i can look at change now and quickly add it which... is my favorite skill i'm not gonna lie.

also i wanna note that just... don't take ANYTHING personal, nothing. that person who yelled at you? they don't hate you personally, they hate something that they couldn't control. they're going to insult you but you have to put on a brave face and stay together when shit hits the fan like it's important to distance yourself from your feelings at work. you can try and please people and sometimes it doesn't always work but as long as you try?? you should never feel bad about what any dickhead said to you in a moment of anger. understand that most people are just frustrated and that you can't just? get angry back at them because that'll escalate a situation.

ALSO BECAUSE THIS IS IMPORTANT! if you're still in school, have a conversation with your manager and work things through before everything gets started. if they know why you have to call in to be late then they'll be more understanding. you have to express to them that school is more important and once you do they will work with you. if you don't explain to them times when you need off or why you're late or why you can't come in on certain times then they're less likely to be considerate and will likely, well, fire you or reprimand you. talk with them, be open about what is important to you but still be willing to be flexible. can't come in one day because of something school oriented? say you'll work someone else's shift or fill in, if you can work... work. if you had to call in on thursday and you have saturday off and they need someone to cover a shift? say you'll do it. just,,, i dunno if i explained this well—if they help you, you help them.

to be honest i really enjoy the grocery store environment? there's always something that needs to be done and you have options, i know one time i had such a bad sunburn i couldn't move so i offered to switch departments for a week and helped unload because i couldn't... do much else ofiewjf but no just. i think it's more connected? you get closer with people and it's a Good learning environment because you can do a lot of stuff. like, i cashier, help in the grocery departments, janitorial and other produce/fresh foods areas and i know how to do a lot of things like... it's good. solid. but also being a cashier in general is good and while i still have like, my stutter and anxiety i feel like i'm not fucking terrified of people anymore like... frozen kinda fear and i can at least interact with them on a basic level without flipping out.
