ahh, im still not.. entirely too sure on some things

- is venting about serious topics whilst.still asking for advice not allowed at all? like, what is too much.
- in journals is talking abt realclife events that might not be the best events not allowed? like. can you not just say "my dad did this" or do you have to add "so ill do this or? am i making sense?
- i still dont rly understand like.. the reasoning for disallowing vents at all. 1. ppl are still venting technically so how does it get rid of the "negative atmosphere0 even if its asking for advice? I thought it was simply because of the fact ppl vented abt ppl onsite, but, like... idk. the worlds a hard place? and by removing it, yah, it makes bearbojes seem so sunshiney and great!!! but meanwhile ppl are rly sad bc "nope, cant vent abt it here, guess ill keep it all in." and sometimes ppl dont HAVE someone to vent to. like. its all nice and good but I just dont see a reason if its for keeping a "positive atmosphere." because this is the same site that characters kidnap and torture ppl, characters are cannibals, so why is venting considering ruining a positive atmosphere?

sorry this stuff has been? bothering me for awhile and it doesnt make sense to me like at all but. ik I also tend to struggkw with interpreting words so correct me if im just nisunderstanding

I think the reason for the tagging on of the whole "you need to get help for your vents" is partly because of private vents. staff still has to comb through vents, and so we can't just have a "do not read" place. these vents are on a public platform and have to be public, so just complaining about problems and saying nobody should look at your problems doesn't make much in the way of sense, I think? that's mainly why this rule makes sense for me, but there's a lot of other factors as to why it went into place, I believe, including ranting about people on-site (which I suffered from for a long time)—i just woke up so I don't have time to explain it, but that's the main reason for me

— The focus for journals should be moving forward. I'm not really sure how to explain this in a concise way, but basically yes, there needs to be some sort of "so I'll do this". Like "my dad did x today, but talking to my friends about x makes me feel better, so I'm going to do that" or "my dad did x today, I'm not really sure what to do, does anybody have any advice on how to handle this better in the future?"

— The support center is there for finding someone to talk to in difficult times. If you ever feel that you have nobody to vent to, you could post a thread saying "I'm going through a tough time and I don't feel comfortable talking about it here, but is there anybody I could PM to let some stuff out and maybe get advice?". And another thing is, the OOC atmosphere is very different from the IC atmosphere, because IC is characters and OOC is real people. We understand that the world is tough, and that's why we have the support center.

Basically, we aren't saying that people can't talk about tough times, because everyone in the community wants to help each other through these sorts of things. But the thing was, there was very little helping in what we previously had. There were a lot of private or vague vents that asked for people not to read or reply, which made for an extremely unhealthy atmosphere. And Grea is right about it being a public platform. We still had to read through those, and. Personally, it was incredibly painful to read through vents when people didn't want me to, or asked for me not to respond. We all want to help, but just posting that something is wrong doesn't qute do that, you know?

if u add a tw for like "oh abuse/depression/suicide/whatever" is that not allowed? can you only ask to pm ppl or like.. can hust saying whats on your mind and yhen being like "somwhat do I do?" work

do you have to ASK to pm someone for advice or can you just post a thread with your issue and askk for advice

I would start by saying the. "I'm going through a tough time and I'd like some advice" part, include TWs, and then discuss the issue and ask for advice. But yes you're definitely allowed to just post a thread with TWs as long as it's not sexual content or anything else against site rules.

venting still isn't allowed, but asking for advice and things of the like are okay. for example...
"my dad makes me mad and so i hate myself" would be considered a vent. however!
"my dad did this to make me mad and feel bad so i'm not sure what to do/i'm going to do this to make myself feel better"

we don't allow vents because of how toxic and out of control it got. we want bb to maintain a positive atmosphere and venting doesn't help that. rants/vents posted before this won't be counted as rulebreaks, but in the future, posting them can result in further actions taken.
