Sure, there had been signs over time, and the effects of the radiation had started to show months ago.  By some miraculous act of God, Ten had just about missed everything going to shit. Perhaps it was due to her young age, or simply because she was accepting it to be apart of the world. Regardless, when her eyes were finally opened to the harsh reality of her situation, it was too late. Her friends had either been killed or mutated, and her home was destroyed. For Astraltendencies, the apocalypse wasn't the end of the world – it was the start.

It was rather precocious for the young puppy to address the mass of weak animals, but it ended up being for the better. Now they saw her as strong, a go-getter, and maybe even a little bit of a leader. It felt great, don't get her wrong. Ten would give anything to help others, and this was the best situation to do so, but it was scary. She trusted every animal here, but to have their fate in her hands was terrifying. So she retreated up the mountain to the mouth of a small stream, settling between two rocks, one of which she laid her maw on. The wind ruffled her thick fur, and she let out a big sigh, her mind beginning to wander into thought.

at least they had the beauty of the mountain to rely on. he had simply been climbing up the side in hopes of finding a cave, but so far, he had no such luck. he sigh as he drew to a stop, dry and cracked paws aching horribly. he sighed and sat down, lifting one to look at the bloody pads. maybe climbing had been a mistake. he was getting old, after all, and his creaky joints couldn't take much physical activity. "damn it."
