Mettaton would always be an odd sight in the loner lands, where what buildings there were tended to be overgrown and dilapidated. Frankly, he was a bit of an odd sight back home as well, but he liked to go out from time to time, a jaunt lasting sometimes a few days, for scavenging in the largely uninhabited areas outside of Badlands territory. He liked to get out of there--away from the violence and the torture and the grime. He loved everyone there, he would be devastated to leave for good, but it wasn't something he could keep up for more than a few weeks at a time.
So here he was again. He had a thin cotton coat, and was cold, unbelievably cold--but he had planned to find a shelter for the night, and that plan was falling through. He was good in the cold, usually--but he had his limits. He'd need to eat soon, but he wanted to cook--so he needed trees, a fire. He could see some woods up ahead, if he headed off the road--so he changed his path, hoping there would be plenty of fallen sticks.

- Mettaton is extremely dramatic, flamboyant, and glamorous. He loves making a statement--of any kind. He's friendly, though quite self-centered, and likes to use pet names a lot--notably, calling people 'darling' quite often. He gets extremely enthusiastic about quite a lot, and thinks of himself as above most earthly things. Though he can seem shrewd and is certainly intelligent and creative, he can be quite idealistic, naive, and even gullible, easily manipulated. It can seem hard to shake his confidence, but he can be made an unwitting pawn of someone's game if they know how to play him.

He had headed out at noon, from the mess of tents that the Hunt called camp - he was the leader, but the council could rule for a day or two while he scouted along the border of the Badlands. He knew they were scarily close, really, compared to the distance they would usually keep - compared to their usual neutrality, two hours on horseback from the Badlands Plains was daring.
He had set up camp, leaving the horse and setting off on foot, Lena tagging along - the wolfhound, though with mud around her, and slightly matted fur, meant the world to Kai. After all, it was his claim to his title as one of the Wild Hunt. Armed with a bow, with a dagger made of bone alongside his quiver stocked with arrows, his garments being patched together and reinforced against the cold with furs, he would be quite the sight to anyone who happened to cross his path - and as perceptive as he could be, he was rather busy tracking what seemed to him like a rabbit or a hare at that moment in time.

Mettaton was still cold, but as he made his way towards the trees, something made him pull up short. A man--person? A figure, with a dog, they were got up in a load of animal skins and...he was definitely armed. With a bow? Impressive. Rubbing his arms, he took a few steps closer, before stopping again. What if they were hostile? He didn't want an arrow in the ass. Still...maybe this guy could help him? Or at least provide company. He wanted to try.
He headed down, a few paces before calling out. " Hello!" He hollered, waving his hand quickly. He didn't want to startle him so much he got killed, but he figured sneaking up was worse.

Lena heard the other human, and the hound looked up but made no move, simply watching. Kaiden was distracted from the tracks before him by the unfamiliar voice, and upon looking up saw someone who certainly wasn't familiar. He wasn't concerned about that per se, he was just trying to weigh up the situation; whoever this was didn't seem to be hostile, so he would settle for simply talking for now. It could be noted, though, that his bow stayed in his left hand.
Standing up, and looking the stranger up and down as if to assess the threat, he spoke back, not before his right hand went to Lena's back to calm the dog down a little. "Hello. Anything you need?" He asked, the tone slightly stand-off-ish, but the question was probably a good sign as he was willing to interact.

"Ah--" Mettaton halted, for a second, seeing the dog a bit closer, it gave him the heebie jeebies. Still, he smiled at the man and nodded. "I was--I've been--walking, a long way, I wondered if you might know of any shelters around here? I won't get back to my camp before night and--I'm a bit underprepared."
