— of course when everything felt like it was going great, everything would eventually start going to shit. he always thought of himself as being rather unlucky; the good streak he managed to have lately had been almost unnerving. there was no urgent desire to run away from the group he and lucerne had settled in, no want to abandon the lives they had made for themselves there because the lives they had were good ones. at least, addy had previously thought that. he wasn’t so sure how it could get any worse for them, now.
addy usually didn’t try so desperately to fix a shitty situation. if things were going awry, he was used to simply - letting them fucking happen. life was unfair, guess he couldn’t whine and complain about it. however, when it was a shitty situation that affected lucerne, it looked like addy was less likely to drag his feet when helping.
walking back into the district with yet another patrol, he sighed, avoiding other peoples’ gazes as he looked to one side. “did you guys find anything, yet?” an npc inquired as she stepped over to meet them. with an irritated sigh, he held up the near-empty bag.
“sort of. don’t think it’ll be of any use to them.” she took the bag and peered into it, eyeing the few bandages and expired pill bottles. medications addy couldn’t even pronounce - yet ones he figured wouldn’t be too useful.
“well… can’t say you guys didn’t try, huh?” great. that was exactly what he needed to hear. ripping the bag away from her, he sent a look her way before he walked further into the district. ”maybe they’ll find them useful!” it was too late to backtrack, he thought. he didn’t know how much more of this he could take before he went and tried to take this into his own hands. his fuse was running short.
