— life was going great for frederick. or, at least, it felt like he had nothing to complain about; everything was simply going his way. from opening up a bar, budding friendships from the least expecting places, and finally getting sent out on a little task for eddie -- it was needless to say that he was proud of himself. there was nothing quite like watching someone get murdered to truly boost fred’s spirits. though he didn’t speak about why he and will left flintlock, he did come back seeming relatively chipper.
he was still living off of the adrenaline it seemed, desperate to chase after other things that could make his heart race in his chest. setting out two rafts by the river along with other supplies, he waited for others to come over from the lodge. he stretched his arms lazily above his head as the others started to arrive, humming pleasantly. “are you all ready?” he supposed inviting people from the lodge to go white water rafting wasn’t his worst idea so far, especially since the weather was starting to get better enough for it.
turning his head, he looked towards the raging rapids. there was a certain gleam in his eyes as he looked back towards the group and casually observed, “this is going to be fun, yeah?” still, the rapids looked fierce and some might even say dangerous -- fred felt hooked to the adrenaline. “who wants to be in my raft?” whoever agreed would be in for quite the trip - he could get a bit competitive once the rafts started racing down the river.

he spots the small group gathering by the river, a lopsided grin spreads across bowie’s lips. he gets a bit of a skip in his step and reaches them pretty quickly. “ are you all ready? “ he’s there in perfect time. “ [color=#b3d9ff]hell yeah, “ he exclaims, glancing around to the faces who were also going. “ [color=#b3d9ff]i can carry some of the stuff, “ he offers, picking up a bag of supplies. once aspen’s eyes land on the rafts and splitting up into two groups, he gets an idea. a hint of a smile, “ [color=#b3d9ff]a nice offer, really, “ he says to fred, “ [color=#b3d9ff]but i think i’d rather game you on. “ aspen lays out his challenge. while he is competitive, he’s entirely friendly about it and be able to laugh off any loss. before freddie can even respond, bowie begins to climb into one of the rafts. he’s never done this before, but he’s counting on her surfing and skating skills with a mix of beginner’s luck.

Rafting, it sounded like a dangerous pastime, something that was bound to get those involved injured. Meaning it was a good plan to have someone with medical knowledge tagging along in order to keep everyone safe and... not dead. Then again, in the worst case scenario, Maisie herself could become injured from this... but she did want to experience what these two seemed interested in. She'd never really taken a moment for herself to experience reckless fun.
Perhaps that was why she remained uninjured, well at least not majorly injured. She still stubbed her toes, and had her fair share of goosebumps on her head. "Mind if I tag along as well?" She only had one life after all, might at least try and enjoy it, just a bit. Though she suspected that she may never try an "extreme" sport again after this, it would be nice to give it a try.
If only just this once.

Whilst the past few weeks had been a roller coaster for him, William had to admit that things weren’t always exactly going his way. Like - what - that pregnancy announcement? William still cringed at the very thought of his spawn crawling about in a couple months time. Some people were just were not put here on Earth to procreate, otherwise William would not have turned out to be such a contemptuous narcissist who cared for nothing but himself. Sure, the thrill of gunning a man down the other day could almost make up for the fact that life felt somewhat shit for him right now.
If only his victim was Joey. Kill two birds with one stone, right?
He wanted to continue to defy all odds and live heedlessly through the recklessness he put himself through, even if it were for a hobby as seemingly dangerous as white water rafting. And if he ended up dying in some freak white water rafting accident - well, what was that classic saying? Only the sexy died young? Sounded about right.
He was only kidding; of course he knew the actual saying.
Wandering over with a slightly crinkled expression on his face, William listened in on the conversation before approaching his younger brother. ❝ It’s all right, Freds- ❞ He grabbed onto his shoulder, shaking him lightly, ❝ I’ll be on your team. You at least deserve a chance at winning. ❞ His backhanded compliment was said monotonously, yet a smug look across his face was playfully mocking. He shoved Freddie away before beginning to climb into their raft, preparing for the race. Of course the brothers would win. They won everything.

— he followed aspen with a competitive gleam in his gaze, eyes narrowing playfully. oh, he liked this already. guess he wasn’t the only competitive person around here. “alright, if that’s what you want,” he said slowly, feigning sounding unimpressed with a shrug of his shoulders. he turned his gaze towards the other raft. “don’t come crying to me when you lose, though. no one likes a sore loser.” freddie said that as if he wouldn’t throw an absolute fit if he lost.
still, he had to admit that the other man’s competitive nature was admirable. this guy talked a lot of big game for someone going against the likes of freddie. if the man knew how to play dirty when it came to white water rafting, he probably would have been pulling out all the stops to make sure the guy didn’t even have a chance at winning. with all things considered, though, this was probably the most fair competition anyone could possibly get with fred. nothing was fun when you had to try and win fair and square, right?
just from the look fred sent will as his brother came sauntering on over, it was as if he already knew the backhanded compliments that would soon follow. who would look ecstatic to see the smug bastard heading their way? “you’re too kind.” as will shook him gently by the shoulder, fred casually clapped his hand on his brother’s back just a bit to rough to be a harmless pat on the back. the slightest bit of playful roughhousing between the two brothers. “if anything, i think you’re getting too soft, now.” was the sarcasm heavy in his words or just strongly implied, paired with that shit-eating grin?
he started walking towards the raft, climbing on in with will. he looked back towards maisie, humming briefly. “yeah, sure. you can be in aspen’s group.” he gestured towards the other raft. then, once people got settled and got their oars and paddles, he hummed. “alright. everyone ready? and-” he started before giving any other command, giving his group an unfair head start to the little competition. “go!”
those guys didn't stand a chance.
