[I]If I'm waitin'
it's on my throne
[B][I]Come on, what's up, danger?
When you're a kid in this world, sometimes you have to make your own family and fine your own parents. This was so with Paige, who while just turning eighteen, had taken Mord and Molly to fit the parental roles. So much so that she had started calling them Dad and Mom. She heard Molly's name being called and expecting it not being good? She started running towards them, though stopping next to Mord.

[b]"Dad? Mom? Is everything okay?" She looked from Mord to Molly, then back to Mord with a confused look. The younger girl slid a cigarette in her mouth and lighting it, watching the scene unfold in front of her. Well, you could definitely find some interesting things on dead people and/or in their stuff. She let out smoke and looked back towards Molly. By her reaction that could be just about anyone, but it was clearly someone important.

"Hey mom...who's this?"

— Now, from the looks of things - from an outsider's perspective, perhaps - Silas was being a noble creature, guiding a man who'd once lost all hope to a place which would give him true happiness and joy. A place where he could reunite with a family who had been nothing more than a memory to him for almost two decades. But, for anyone who really knew Silas, the smile on his lips was not genuine. Of course there'd always be an ulterior motive when it came to his oh-so lovely deeds for others. After all, this was Cat's father. Like, a father of the biological variety. The man who literally shared the same damn DNA as that slimy mongrel. And that was what caught Silas' attention.

But, as far as Austin was concerned, Silas was just trying to be nice. Funny, that.

They'd passed the borders into Badlands territory, Silas admittedly kind of excited to get to see Cat once more. After all, the look on their face whenever they saw Silas was absolutely priceless. He loved to exist to bother the crap out of them. He had every intention of sticking around here like a bad smell until being told to piss off. After all, he had an important job to do whilst in Badlands territory; he wanted to scope the area.

His heart nearly jumped into his throat as Austin suddenly called a name out of the blue, Silas blinking dramatically. All right then, a warning would've been nice. But, he had little time to react before Austin broke out into a run towards the familiar woman. Cat's mother. Silas walked after him, not quite wanting to interrupt whatever moment they were having. He wasn't going to be an ass, for now. Instead, he slowed to a halt nearby, quirking a crooked lip as a silent greeting towards the other man and woman stood nearby, before shoving his hand in his pocket. After a moment, he lifted one hand to give the other two Badlanders a brief thumbs up. "Sup." Was all he could say, sounding slightly awkward in that moment. What else was he to do, though? Join the hug between Austin and Molly?!

He can't really blame her for thinking that he was dead. The last she'd seen him, he was dying, and the odds of him making it had been slim. He'd promised to come back if he did... but by the time he made it home, years later, she was gone. "I almost died so many times. It was the thought of you that kept me going." It was sappy and cliched, but he had almost two decades to make up for with sappy romantic cliches like that.

That's when his attention shifted to the people that were witnessing the reunion, specifically the Badlanders. The man that hadn't said anything, the girl that ran up and referring to Molly and the man as... her parents. Oh. She thought he was dead. She'd moved on with her life. Pretty quickly, judging by the age of the girl. A bit of a defeated look appeared on his face. "Oh..." Thoroughly distracted by this, he paid no mind to his companion.

— it wasn’t every day that addy saw a reunion between two people who cared very, very much for each other. honestly, if he could, he preferred to stay away from those reunions.they were so cliche, so sappy -- and what was he supposed to do, awkwardly stand there like a fuckin’ idiot? yeah, he’d prefer to stay away from those heartfelt moments, avoid them until he literally couldn’t. at least this reunion had caught his interest a bit more than he’d be willing to admit.

addy liked molly. she was the mother figure he never really had, even if they weren’t the closest (he hadn’t been close with his actual mother, so like he really knew the difference) but he still was kind of fond of her. so her running to meet someone, throwing her arms around him caught his interest. once he was closer, he glanced between the two newcomers. someone molly was embracing, and -- oh, the guy with shit music tastes. it wasn't until molly filled the growing crowd in, saying that it was her husband, that everything clicked.

he would congratulate them for the happy reunion-- actually, he had to be realistic and say congratulating people wasn't really his thing. instead, he turned his gaze towards silas, choosing to bluntly ask, “and why the hell are you here?”

i have no excuse

tws thoughts of violence, blood, murder, mentions of alcohol, religion, injury, broken bones, blood

And here was the soldier, wearing a black t-shirt, a pair of blue jeans, tightly laced boots, and a tactical vest. He'd opted to start wearing it again after the Insurrection had decided to send a message. His rifle was slung over his shoulder, a pistol on his hip, and an expression of indifference on his scarred and worn face.

Michael had been through a lot in the past, and he was still going through a lot, though he wore the bandana, which marked his return to status here in the group, it was good to feel as though his effort was not going to waste. He stopped a foot or two behind Molly, his arms folding over his chest, eyes narrowed and brows furrowed at the appearance of the man here. He wasn't sure what to think of it, but he decided to bite his tongue for now, shooting Mord a raised eyebrow before he turned his attention back to Austin.

It was part of his training to analyze, and Austin was someone he would readily analyze, especially after Molly's explanation, he heard the tail end of. He looked at Addy, "Red" an officer now, though he didn't really care, he would still treat Addy the same he always had, and probably antagonize the kid a bit more than he needed.

Addy's question, and bluntness was amusing, very characteristic to the man, though Michael wasn't going to say anything on this, not yet at least. There didn't seem to be much of a reason for him to talk, perhaps later... so this was Austin, the man that Molly had met in high school? Her high school sweetheart? He knew that Molly despised him now, and he didn't blame her, but he still wanted the best for her, and for her to be safe.

forgot to mention it last night, but I'm putting a floodstop on this for a few days so that Fox has time to reply with Mord!

He was still in disbelief. Literally. He struggled to believe that his wife and son - or child? Silas had used neutral pronouns - were here. That right after just about giving up, he'd find them. Go figure, right? Austin really had believed, at first, that this was some sort of joke that Bluestem's leader was playing on him... but then he'd given details. Details that could be made up, but seemed far too real.

And what, was he supposed to ignore the first lead he'd gotten in years? No, of course not. Not when Silas gave him not only a location, but offered to take him there. He couldn't pass it up. It had been a hell of a journey getting there, but if his family really was there, it would at long last be coming to an end.

They had passed over what Silas thought was the border a few minutes ago, and were looking for a patrol. Voices. Two people walking along, a man and a woman. The latter was, despite the many years that had passed, immediately familiar to him. "Molly? Molly!" She turned her head to face him and yes, it really was her. Finally, after all these years, he'd found her. He didn't hesitate, he broke out into a run towards her.

[div style="width: 260px; min-height: 270px; font-size: 12px; text-align: justify; color: #000"]She had long given up the hope of ever seeing her husband again. It just seemed utterly hopeless; he had died somewhere where she couldn't see. That was honestly easier to accept than him being alive because... if he was alive, why had he never come home? It wasn't that she wanted him dead, not by any means. But him being alive would be far more complicated, and maybe even more painful than him being alive.

Either way, he was long gone. And still she kept her torch burning for him, never thinking for a moment of trying to move on, trying to replace him. She focused on Cat and Gav and Mo and Charlie, kept up with her friendships around the Badlands. Romance wasn't necessary. Her life was full enough without it.

But maybe it was foolish to hold out for a man that she wouldn't see until she reached the pearly gates, but she was proud of herself for staying loyal to him, even in all this adversity without him here. She'd known it since she was a teenager, that he was the one for her. That hadn't changed, and that wouldn't change. Right?

Molly was walking with Mord, enjoying her finally liberated arm and the company of her only friend her age here (she still hadn't forgiven Mike, and she didn't think she would). They'd gone out pretty far, near the border, but why not? There was still the threat of the Insurrection looming over them, but Cat was supposed to get back any day now.

"Molly? Molly!"

She turned her head and her eyes widened in surprise. She recognized Silas easily enough, it had been what, a month since she last saw him? But it took a second for it to hit her that this was him. Her husband. "Austin?" Then she was running too, meeting him in the middle and throwing her arms around him. "It's really you. I can't believe it's you." She pulled away to look at his face, how he'd aged... "I thought you were dead."

Before she could answer, Paige was appearing and... goddamnit, she had to call them mom and dad now, didn't she? She sighed. "This is my husband, Austin. Scott's father."

Then she looked back at him, saw the defeated look on his face and realized what he thought. "No, Austin, it's not like that. Mordecai is my friend, Paige is - she's a girl I met here and took in. She's not my real daughter." Blunt, maybe rude, but it was all she could think to say to get out of this without detailing at length everything.
