it wasn't the most reliable method, but ultrasounds were lost with doctors and electricity, so she had to make due with what she had. and, unfortunately, she didn't have a wedding ring; hayley chase had never been one to be tied down, as was evident by her not knowing the name of her unborn child's father. however, hayley had plenty of standard rings that often adorned long, thin fingers, so she simply selected the one she figured might apply the most; the thin silver band she'd been wearing the night she'd met whoever her child's father was.

circle is a girl, she reminded herself, back and forth is a boy. it wobbled in every direction for a moment, making it's mind up, before eventually settling into the careful rhythm of a circle, round and round her palm. immediately, the brunette broke into a wide grin, clearly happy.
